Year 7 Immersion Week
In week two of the school year all the new Year 7 students participated in their annual Immersion Week. This week is designed to immerse our newest students into the McClelland College culture, foster social connections and just have a lot of fun!
The week included an interactive learning session on the school values and how students can demonstrate these throughout their time at the college. Demonstrating Community, Ownership and Growth is at the core of everything we do at McClelland College.
The students also had a session aimed at developing their growth mindset and resilience when faced with challenging situations or problems. These skills can be used inside and out of the classroom when meeting new people and completing tricky classwork.
The students were immersed in some indigenous culture during an art activity that engaged the creative part of the students’ brains. Ably led by Miss Fogarty, the students created some amazing pieces of work.
Along with the classroom-based activities, the Year 7’s tested their physical, social and teamwork abilities in several team games, rock climbing, high ropes, and inflatable challenges. Rock climbing was a hit and the excursion to the Melbourne Cable Park at the end of the week was the highlight for many. Overall the week has hopefully built a platform for all Year 7 students to have a fun and successful time at McClelland College.
