Principal's Report

Dear St A’s Community,

On Tuesday morning, I was lucky enough to attend St Patrick’s Cathedral with Isabelle Brough and Carly Hunter, our 2 graduate teachers, to be part of the Graduate teachers commissioning Mass.  The mass was presided by Archbishop Comensoli and in attendance were 180 graduate teachers and their principals from MACS schools across Melbourne.   Afterwards, Carly and Isabelle attended a graduate induction program alongside other graduates to learn more about the profession and to develop connections with other graduates.

This week many of our families, had a parent teacher interview.  We thank all the families that took the time to meet the teachers and invest further into your child/ren’s education.  We understand that life can be very busy and that you may not have been available on the nights.  If this is the case, classroom teachers are more than happy to meet with parents at an alternative time.  The teachers will also be sending via email, notes that were going to be discussed at the meeting.  Please read the notes and send back signed at your earliest convenience.

$2 Tuesday is back! This initiative is run by our Grade 6 leaders and is an opportunity for our students to take the lead on a project. The items on their $2 trolley are optional.  Students are able to purchase an item if they choose.  Items include gluten free popcorn, juice boxes, fruit, le snacks and generally a “special” item.  The money from $ 2 Tuesday, continues to help with the continual upgrade and fixing of the playground.  On Wednesday we had Play Safe in again, continuing their work on the playground upgrade.  They will continue the work all term and into the holidays!

Prep 2025 – I know it sounds early to be thinking about Prep in 2025 but it is not!  If you have a child that is ready to start Prep next year, please collect an enrolment pack from the school office.  We have had an increasing high interest into the Prep program already and we want to ensure that we hold enough spaces for siblings – before we take on any new families. It’s never too early to be organized!!!

As we begin the season of Lent we are called to consider how we will prepare ourselves, our family and our children for Easter this year. Just as Jesus made sacrifices in the desert, it is a time for us to reflect on what sacrifices we might make, to prepare ourselves, to make change and to be ready for Jesus.

During Lent we are encouraged to:

  1. Give Alms or give time - Support Charities
  2. Pray
  3. Fast or make sacrifices
  4. Make a positive change - take action to support others

Show Grace, Be the Joy for others, and God Bless.

Enjoy the weekend!
