School Crossing

The safety and wellbeing of all students is a priority at our school. We are asking for the support of all families to help ensure that students arrive at and leave school safely each day.

Our Crossing Supervisors and staff on gate duty have recently observed an increase in the number of students crossing Gerbert Street and Cooper Street without using the designated school crossing. We have also noticed some students exiting vehicles on the road side, which places them at risk from passing traffic.

When dropping off or collecting your child, please use the designated drop-off zones where possible. If your child is getting out of the car, please ensure they exit from the kerb side (footpath side) of the vehicles. This helps keep children away from moving traffic and reduces the risk of accidents.

We also ask that parents and carers ensure children are safely secured in their seats before driving away. Younger children should be assisted by a parent or responsible adult to fasten their seatbelt or child restraint correctly. Please take the time to check that seatbelts are securely fastened before leaving the pick-up area.

If your child needs to cross the road, please remind them to always use the supervised school crossing and follow the directions of the Crossing Supervisors. The school crossing is the safest place for students to cross and is there to help protect them during busy drop-off and pick-up times.

We encourage all families to take a few moments to discuss safe road practices with their children. By working together, we can help create a safer environment for all members of our school community.
