St Justin’s Primary School acknowledges the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as Australia's First People and Traditional Custodians of the land and waterways on which our school stands.
We pay our respects to the Bunurong people of the Kulin Nation, and their elders past and present, and emerging as we continue to proudly live and learn on their land.

Dear Families and Friends,
Welcome back!
I hope you all had a wonderful and restful break during the school holidays. It's hard to believe we are already in Term Four, and what a busy and exciting time it promises to be!
In addition to the vibrant learning taking place in our classrooms, we are eagerly preparing for our annual St Justin’s Fair on the Hill. This is a cherished event in our school community, and we encourage everyone to get involved and lend a helping hand. Whether it's volunteering, donating, or simply coming along to enjoy the day, your support will make it a huge success!
Let’s make the most of this term and continue to work together, building a strong and supportive school community.
Our principal, Mr. Torpey, is currently away on a special pilgrimage in Spain. This meaningful journey is a time for reflection and personal growth, and we wish him all the best during this experience.
He will be returning to school in Week 3, and we look forward to hearing more about his travels when he gets back.
A message from Mr Torpey:
Hi Students, Parents and Careers,
I hope you’ve had a wonderful break and enjoyed time with your family. I wish you all the very best for term 4 - I’m sure it will fly.
We’re on our second last day of our walk, currently 16km out of Santiago. It’s been a challenging, but rewarding walk, passing through some little towns with a coffee shop or cafe, while others are nothing more than a few diaries. Plenty of other walkers along the way from all parts of the world. The weather hasn’t been too kind with a few days of heavy rain - apparently we are heading into Harrican Kirk - let’s hope it moves north soon.
I look forward to sharing more of my journey when I return to school.
Wishing you all the very best for the term ahead.
Take care,
Mr Torpey
Commencing Saturday 19th October 2024 please refer to the Education in Faith Page for new mass times.
On a beautiful sunny Wednesday, St Justin's had 24 students ranging from Years 3-6 represent the school at the Division Athletics Championships at Bill Sewart Athletics Track in Burwood.
These kids were invited due to finishing in the top of their respective events at the District Athletics at the end of term 3.
As the level of competition increases dramatically once reaching this stage, our students were poised to take on some extremely talented kids from the Monash and Waverley Division.
Our students gritted their teeth and gave it their all in the track and field events they were selected in and represented the school with great pride. A special congratulations go to the following students who have now made it through to the Regional Championships which will be held in Doncaster in 2 week's time.
We are still waiting for confirmation in regards to Selena D who ran in the 12-13 Girls 100m and came equal second in her heat to see if she also made it through to Regionals.
A massive congratulations to everyone for making it this far and for of course giving it their all.
Mr Johnson & Mrs Sullivan
Exciting news! Our Year 6 students participated in the Hoop Time Basketball Tournament today at the State Basketball Centre, Wantirna. We are incredibly proud of their enthusiasm and teamwork as they represent our school in this exciting event.
Thank you to Mr Johnson for organising the day and to Mrs Lacey, Mrs Braybrook and Riley Snell for coaching and supervising the students.
Stay tuned for next week's newsletter, where we'll share more details and updates on how they performed. We hope the Year 6 students enjoyed this great experience!
We are thrilled to announce that our St Justin's Aerobics Team will be competing next Saturday, 19th of October, at Doncaster Secondary College!
Our students have put in tremendous effort and dedication, and we couldn't be prouder of their achievements. Good luck to Alice H, Liana S, Sanaya G,
Arabella D, Jesse-Less D, Georgia R, Lux M, Alessia S and Carla D.
Thank to Heidi C for all her work with the team this year. Unfortunately Heidi is unable to compete next Saturday.
Let’s all wish them the best of luck as they represent our school. Go, team St Justin's!
A big thank you to our wonderful community for kindly donating the following items for the lucky jars and chocolate toss.
We thank you for your continued support in making this the best Fair on the Hill!
Thanks again to the The Fair on the Hill Committee for organising this event, it is greatly appreciated.
A reminder that St Justin’s is a 'Sun Smart School' and as a result, throughout October to the end of April, students are required to wear a sun protective school hat that protects the face, neck and ears. Please make sure that your child’s hat is clean, in good condition and clearly labelled. New hats can be purchased from Academy Uniforms. Students will also be encouraged to wear broad-spectrum water resistant sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) and to be responsible for its reapplication throughout the day. Students are welcome to bring their own sunscreen (not to share) or apply in the mornings before coming to school. As always, students are also encouraged to have a drink bottle. Any student who forgets their hat will be asked to play in an under covered area.
In case you haven't noticed, the weather in Melbourne can change very quickly. As we have seen this week, we had beautiful weather on the weekend only to have cold, wet, windy weather during the week. During these extreme weather conditions, students may wear the uniform that suits the environment, but we do ask that it please be the school uniform and not a combination of casual clothes worn under summer uniform. The correct school uniform should always be worn to school, unless directed elsewise for special events.
Our Annual St Justin's Fair on the Hill is fast approaching with an amazing amount of work already done. Remember it is being held on Saturday 9th November 2024 from 11:00am-4:00pm.
This is also a good time to check your Working with Children Checks - our data base indicates that some have already expired and others are close to expiring - we would hate you to be rushing to volunteer only to discover your WWCC in no longer valid. For more information, please visit WWCC. Please remember that all volunteers will require a WWCC.
