Sandhurst Arts on Show
On Tuesday 10th September, after much rehearsal and preparation, our students were involved in the Sandhurst Arts on Show performance held at St Francis of the Fields Primary School in Strathfieldsaye. Due to illness we only had 10 bright and energetic students representing St Mary's, however what we lacked in numbers we made up for in enthusiasm and courage! Our students represented our school so beautifully, singing Life's a Happy Song and Ain't No Mountain High Enough and dancing their hearts out to I Don't Dance. Every student made their teachers so very proud and we received so many positive comments from staff and families from other schools congratulating us on our efforts. Thank you to all of the families who came along to support us at the concert, thanks to Mr O for his encouragement and performance tips on the day and a huge thanks to Mrs G for her amazing photography skills and assistance with supervision. We look forward to performing Life's a Happy Song again at future events for the community.
PE
This term, students looked at different events that ran throughout the Olympics and how they can be adapted to suit the skillset of the students. We saw students engage in golf, volleyball, basketball, rugby 7's and breakdancing. It was really enjoyable to see the students trying their best at new games and sports that they have never played before.
R U OK? Day
Everyday is time to ask RU OK? Last Thursday we talked about the keys to being a good friend and how important it is to not just ask the question RUOK? but to take the time to listen to the response and show support in how we respond. We also celebrated our friendship with some delicious yellow cupcakes thanks to our master chefs Achilles, Nakodah and Mrs G! 🧁
Footy Colours Day
On Tuesday we saw many students arrive to school in their Footy Colours. Students enjoyed a chicken skewer BBQ lunch before playing some diverse football skill based games. Students had a wonderful time representing their favourite team and it was good to see that Collingwood appeared the most.
Divisional Athletics
A recount by Lucy Morrison
"On the 16th of the 9th 2024 I made it to the second stage in Athletics. I made it for triple jump and shot put. It was at Flora Hill athletics center. We had to be there at 9:45am. I met one person I know who was doing 800m. I had a triple jump at 5 past 11 and shot put at 5 past 12. I did not make it to the third stage. Lots of people were there and the gummy snakes were yum. I did well and enjoyed it a lot. I am very happy that I made it. The shot put I liked most and I hope I make it next year."
Great work Lucy, we are proud of your awesome achievements!
