Welcome Back

We hope that everyone had a restful and enjoyable break. We know many families and staff took the opportunity to head to warmer climates and exciting adventures. It was wonderful to see everyone return safely.

We also acknowledge the significant time of our Year 6s entering their final term at primary school and our Prep students finishing their first year of schooling. Both cohorts will experience a plethora of emotions and we look forward to celebrating these milestones with them.

School Attendance

In an effort to improve student attendance at CJC, and support their learning journey, we are reinforcing the following processes this term:

Absences: If your child has been absent for three consecutive days without explanation, their classroom teacher will reach out to you by phone on the third day. Additionally, you will receive a notification via Compass (Chronicle) to ensure you stay informed.

Late arrival: If your child is late to school for three days within a term (which can occur even in the first week), their classroom teacher will also contact you by phone. A notification will be sent via Compass (Chronicle) to keep you updated.

We appreciate your cooperation and support in helping us maintain open communication about your child's attendance. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Hats and Sunscreen

With the weather taking a turn for the best, a reminder that all students need to be wearing a wide-brimmed SunSmart hat and provided with sunscreen. Students that don’t have a hat will be reminded to purchase one and will be directed to sit in the shade for their protection – ‘No Hat, No Play’.

School Photos 2025

We can confirm the date of our school photos for next year, they will be held on February 14th. Please pencil this date into your calendars to ensure your children are at school on this day. We will be using Arthur Reed Photography this year.

Working Bee

A reminder that we have a Working Bee on this Sunday. A couple of the tasks that we will tackle is soil removal to improve the access to the bike shed, as well as the usual weeding and grounds maintenance. Thank you to all the parents, carers and students that continue to donate their time on the weekend to support our school.

Building Works

Building works continue around the junior school building. A new accessible toilet, as well as decking and ramps are being installed. While we acknowledge that this does cause some disruption, the long-term benefits are insurmountable. We appreciate our communities support and understanding during these coming weeks.

SLC Doors

We have improved access to our classrooms in the SLC by removing the heavy sliding doors and installing double doors. They look fantastic and very easy to operate!

Ocean Day

Yesterday we acknowledged Ocean Day, organised by our SRC. We thank them for raising awareness and championing this issue in our school.

AEFE Conference

Mme Pommier and myself will be away from Monday until Thursday inclusively next week to attend the annual AEFE Conference in Bangkok.

The back-to-school Conference organised by the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE) will take place from October 14 to October 16, in Bangkok. This event will bring together the heads of French schools and high schools from the Asia-Pacific region, including our own school.

The main objectives of the seminar are:

Defining the educational guidelines for the 2024-2025 school year: This includes directives related to teaching approaches, educational innovation, and academic priorities for the upcoming year.
Planning training sessions for AEFE staff: Teachers and staff in AEFE schools will receive continuous professional development to enhance the educational experience for your children.
Reviewing national assessments: There will be a review of previous assessment results, allowing for adjustments to improve student success.
Ensuring the implementation of the 2024-2025 curriculum: This will be an opportunity to examine the educational content and ensure it aligns with the expectations of the French Ministry of Education.

This seminar is a key moment to ensure educational consistency across the Asia-Pacific region and to guarantee that our students receive a high-quality education in line with the values of the French education system.

We will keep you informed of the conclusions and decisions that result from this seminar, and we are confident that it will contribute to the success of your children's school year.

Bienvenue

Nous espérons que vous avez tous passé de belles vacances. Plusieurs familles et membres du personnel ont profité ce cette opportunité pour aller passer un bon moment dans un climat plus chaud. Ce fut un plaisir de retrouver toute la communauté cette semaine.

Nous sommes conscients que ce dernier trimestre est une période importante pour les élèves de 6ème qui termineront bientôt leur éducation primaire, et pour nos Prep qui termineront cette première année d’école. Ces deux groupes vivront certainement de grandes émotions et nous sommes impatients de célébrer ces étapes avec eux.

Présence des élèves

Nous visons à améliorer les le niveau de présences des élèves à l’école, pour les soutenir dans leurs apprentissages. Nous allons donc respecter plus strictement les procédures suivantes à partir de ce trimestre :

Absences : Si votre enfant est absent plus de trois jours consécutifs sans explication, son professeur contactera les parents le troisième jour. De plus, vous recevrez des messages sur Compass pour vous tenir au courant.

Arrivées tardives : Si votre enfant arrive à l’école en retard trois jours dans un même trimestre, son professeur vous contactera par téléphone. Des messages seront envoyés également sur Compass.

Nous vous remercions de votre collaboration et votre soutien à maintenir une communication ouverte au sujet de la présence de votre enfant à l’école.

Protection solaire

Avec l’été qui approche et le retour du beau temps, nous souhaitons vous rappeler que les élèves doivent porter un chapeau de protection solaire et appliquer de la crème solaire. Les élèves sans chapeaux recevront un rappel de se procurer un chapeau et seront emmenés à jouer à l’ombre – « Pas de chapeau, pas de jeu ».

Photos d’école

Nous avons confirmé la date des photos d’école pour l’an prochain, soit le 14 février. Veuillez noter la date dans vos calendriers et assurer que votre enfant est présent à l’école. Le prestataire cette année sera Arthur Reed Photography.

Working Bee

Petit rappel qu’une séance de Working Bee aura lieu ce dimanche. Les tâches à accomplir incluent l’enlèvement de terre pour améliorer l’accès au hangar à vélos, l’enlèvement des mauvaises herbes et la maintenance générale du terrain. Un grand merci à toutes les familles qui continuent d’offrir leur temps pour soutenir notre école.

Travaux de construction

Les travaux de construction sont toujours en cours autour du bâtiment des juniors, et des plateformes et rampes d’accès à installer. Nous comprenons que cela peut causer des problèmes à cours terme, mais la vision à long terme justifie grandement ces efforts. Merci de votre compréhension et soutien pour les semaines à venir.

Portes dans le SLC

Nous avons effectué des travaux d’amélioration dans les classes du SLC. Les grosses portes coulissantes lourdes ont été remplacées par des portes doubles. Elles sont magnifiques et faciles à manipuler.

Le Jour des Océans

Nous avons marqué le Jour des Océans hier, une initiative organisée par nous élèves représentants de clases. Nous les remercions de sensibiliser ce problème dans notre école.

Séminaire de rentrée AEFE

La semaine prochaine, je me rendrai à Bangkok avec Mme Pommier pour participer au séminaire de rentrée de l'AEFE, de lundi à jeudi inclusivement.

Le séminaire de rentrée organisé par l'Agence pour l'Enseignement Français à l'Étranger (AEFE) se tiendra du 14 au 16 octobre 2024 à Bangkok. Cet événement rassemblera tous les chefs d’établissements des écoles et lycées français de la zone Asie-Pacifique, dont notre établissement fait partie.

Le séminaire a pour objectifs principaux de :

Définir les orientations pédagogiques de l'année scolaire 2024-2025 : Cela inclut les directives liées aux approches pédagogiques, à l'innovation éducative et aux priorités académiques pour cette nouvelle année.
Établir le plan de formation des personnels de l'AEFE : Les enseignants et personnels des établissements AEFE bénéficieront de formations continues pour améliorer l'expérience éducative de vos enfants.
Faire le point sur les évaluations nationales : Un retour sera fait sur les résultats des évaluations précédentes, permettant d'ajuster les approches pour optimiser la réussite scolaire des élèves.
Assurer la mise en oeuvre les programmes de l'année 2024-2025 : Ce sera l’occasion d'examiner les contenus pédagogiques et de veiller à leur alignement avec les attentes du ministère de l’Éducation nationale.

Ce séminaire est un moment clé pour garantir une cohérence éducative dans toute la zone Asie-Pacifique et assurer que nos élèves bénéficient d'un enseignement de qualité conforme aux valeurs du système éducatif français.

Nous vous tiendrons informés des conclusions et décisions qui en découleront, et nous sommes convaincus que cette rencontre contribuera à la réussite de l'année scolaire de vos enfants.
