OLSC Feast Day

Last Friday, we celebrated our school Feast Day. Throughout the day, a variety of activities drew our attention to Our Lady, who is the patron of our school. Students began the day decorating a piece of paper with their name and other symbols that represent themselves. These will all be put together like a large mosaic to create a huge image of Mary. We look forward to this being put together and on show early next term.

Students, staff and families gathered for Mass. Fr Albert joined us and spoke to us of the importance of Mary and how she continues to accompany us on our journey. Mary loves us and desires to be close to us!

After the break, students we placed into mixed age groupings for trivia. The Social Justice leaders created the questions and very competently led the trivia session. There were bonus rounds of dancing and 'heads and tails'. Lots of fun was had by all.

1/2 Family Faith Evening

Last Tuesday, students and their families from Year 1/2 joined us for a Family Faith Evening. This evening formed another important step on the sacramental and faith journey of these children. After some time in prayer, we listened to the story 'When God made light.' We heard about how the special light of God is in each one of us!

Then, children and their families decorated a candle to take home and use as part of their prayer. Thank you to the 1/2 team for their support in this evening, and thank you to all of the children and families that came to share this evening with us.

Families of Year 2 students are invited to register their intention for their children to celebrate the Sacrament of First Reconciliation in 2025.  The Google Form to indicate your intention can be accessed via the following link:

Gospel Challenge

Each Friday morning, in place of our usual meditation and prayer, we have a 'Gospel Challenge'. During these challenges, we listen to the coming Sunday's Gospel reading and reflect on its meaning. You are invited to join your child's learning group at 8.50am for this time in prayer. The Gospel Challenge goes for roughly 5 minutes.

We would love to see as many parents and family members join us as possible!

Prayer Warriors

The Parish of St Andrews and the Wyndham Vale Catholic Community is calling all Prayer Warriors to join in praying for the construction of a new church on the block next to OLSC, set aside by the parish for that purpose. So, we invite all our school community to join us in praying for the church building. As a family, you may choose to use this, or another prayer, in your daily prayers:

Our Lady of the Southern Cross, pray for us.

St Joseph, pray for us,

St Andrew, pray for us.

School Masses

School Masses will take place twice a term this year.  Our celebrations are open to all of those in our school community, and we hope to see as many of our families join us for Mass.  Our next Mass is Friday, 25th October at 12pm in the Sports Centre.  Please find below times and dates of all of our school Masses for 2024.
