Hello from our students and teachers
Respect, Responsibility and Kindness
Welcome to the last week of the Term! We are more than glad that we have finally got through this term!
This term we have explored different learnings regarding the Zones of Regulation, Maths, Reading and Writing! We are super proud to show-case our work to you!
We revisited a few lessons from the Zones of Regulation book. We reminded ourselves that the Zones are more like the energy levels we carry within our bodies. And it's definitely okay to feel all the Zones! In our classroom, we thrive to be our BEST version. On some days, we do have some low-energy levels or sometimes, we are super energetic! But no matter what, we try to regulate ourselves with the best tools that works for us. In case you don't know about the Zones here is a picture:

Identifying zones and having a toolkit at home is beneficial for all the students. So that there is consistency in the language that we use - both in school and at home. Moreover, it has been researched that students with learning needs also benefits from 'naming the zones' they are in, or pointing their finger to the particular zone. This helps them use the tools that they need. Here is the link for you kindly,
How can you help your child use The Zones of Regulation at home?
In Writing, we have been learning about Information texts such as Fact books, Procedural texts and Informational posters!
It started off with searching information about a particular animal. We then drafted our poster using a graphic organizer. After reading the text during the time allotted, we tried to figure out the title, sub-title and what type of information to add in our draft. Mrs. D then had a look at our work and would comment if we are ready to make our final draft.
Please have a look at our High Quality Work samples, and tell us how did we go?
For Reading this week, we have been consolidating our reading fluency skills focusing on reading punctuated sentences. We practised exploring the different tone intonations, especially when there is a full stop (.), exclamation mark (!) or question marks (?) in the book we are reading. To model this, Mrs. D has been reading 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' with us! Guess what? This is our third chapter book! We have read Charlotte's Web by E.B White as well as Fantastic Mr. Fox by Roald Dahl!
For Maths, we have been learning the concept of division as shared between. We shared 12 flowers and put them in one vase. Could you guess how we shared it equally? 12÷1 was = 12!
We used the following phrase:
____ (the total number) shared between ______(a certain number) gives ______each (the answer).
So, 12 flowers shared between 1 vase gives/ has 12 flowers each.
The equation was 12 ÷ 1 =12.
We kept going from 12 ÷ 2 = 6.... all the way till 12 ÷ 4 = 3. Guess what? That was our exit ticket to do a mini-investigation! Mrs. D really challenges us a lot! We also played handicap game to practise our skip counting by 2s, 5s and 10s!
Cooking has been a great success these 5 weeks! We literally learnt how to follow procedures (which coincided with our Writing lesson). Check out our photos:
In case you missed out on our Book Week parade photos from August, here it is:
Over the holidays, we need your help to consolidate some of our learnings!
Please help us practise our handwriting skills, using proper letter formation. We also need consistency in reading our books every night! Could you please help us reach our desired goals of 10 nights, 25 nights, 75 nights...or perhaps 200+ nights! For maths, we need your help consolidating 'time' - (half pasts, quarter pasts/ quarter tos/ reading upto 5 minutes) and 'money' - (to name, count and make certain amount). If you get time, could you play math games with us, like handicap? Thank you so very much for your kind help! ^__^v
Overall, we have really enjoyed this roller-coaster-Term, and we have learnt a lot of things! A warm and joyful holidays from all of us:
