R U OK? Day

This week, our school community came together to mark R U OK? Day, a significant event dedicated to inspiring and empowering everyone to meaningfully connect with those around them. This day serves as a reminder that every day is the right day to ask someone about their wellbeing, to listen with an open heart, and to support each other in times of need. The importance of this day cannot be overstated, as it encourages students to look out for their peers and fosters a culture of care and empathy within our school.

The theme for R U OK? Day 2024, "Ask R U OK any day," resonates deeply with our school's values, compassion, respect and integrity. It emphasises the importance of regular, meaningful conversations about life's ups and downs, not just on one day but every day. By participating in R U OK? Day, our students learn vital communication skills, such as active listening and empathy, which are essential for building strong, supportive relationships.

Our school's acknowledgment of R U OK? Day included a range of activities designed to educate and engage students in the conversation around mental health. Many students and staff also wore a touch of yellow to symbolise the brightness that conversation and checking in can bring to another person.

R U OK? Day is more than just an annual event; it is an ongoing commitment to the wellbeing of our students, families, colleagues and the broader community. We are proud to be part of a movement that empowers young people to support each other and create a more connected and supportive community.
