Last week, we bid farewell to our Year 12 cohort with a series of memorable events. On Wednesday afternoon, students came together to 'muck up' the senior centre, creating lasting memories. The following morning, they enjoyed a BBQ breakfast before attending their final school assembly. The celebration continued at Inverloch, where they played beach games and shared lunch, marking their last day as Secondary College students.
With VCE exams starting tomorrow—kicking off with the three-hour English exam—students will be focused on their studies over the next four weeks. We look forward to celebrating their achievements at the Valedictory Dinner later in November.
For many unscored VCE and VCE-VM students, it’s time to dive into the workforce, with some taking on part-time, full-time, or apprenticeship positions, while a few are savouring a well-deserved break before embarking on their future paths. As staff, we’re excited to see where life will take each student, and we wish them all the best for their exams and future endeavours!
Last Thursday, our Year 10 and 11 students pursuing a VCE stream for 2025 had an exciting opportunity to explore their future pathways at the Federation University Experience Day in Churchill. They toured the campus, participated in a mock university lecture, and learned about the various courses available. This hands-on experience helped them gain valuable insights into university life and the options ahead.
While the VCE stream students were at Federation University, our 2025 VCE-VM stream took the opportunity to prepare for their future. They heard from Liz Radcliffe, project lead for the Wind Farm, who shared updates on the project and the job opportunities it will create in our community during both the installation and maintenance phases.
Students also participated in workshops to develop their 2025 project plans and had the chance to reach out to potential employers for work placements. To top off the day, they enjoyed a delicious pizza lunch, which was a hit with everyone!
With only a month and a half left of the 2024 school year, our senior students in Years 10 and 11 should be gearing up for their end-of-year exams. This is a crucial time for academic success, and we encourage parents to support the school by reinforcing the importance of attendance and commitment.
Exams for Years 10 and 11 will take place from November 15th to 19th. Following the exams, students will participate in two weeks of compulsory ‘Step Up’ activities, allowing them to transition into the next year level and begin work in their new subjects. Students will undertake a Senior School Information Day and some Career Exploration work on the 25th. Further details regarding Step Up will be released to students in the coming weeks. Let’s work together to ensure our students are well-prepared for this important period!
