Transitions at Secondary

Our Secondary cohort have transitioned back to school beautifully - everyone has been super excited to catch up with old and new friends and are ready to learn. The Bright Beginnings Program helped ease students back into routine with a focus on our school values of safety, learning and respect.

We continue our ongoing work with The Zones of Regulation, a Personal and Social Learning Curriculum, which provides students with an easy way to think and talk about emotions and how they feel. It's great to see students empowered with skills in self-awareness and strategies for regulation.

Junior Secondary Students Program

Our Junior Secondary students are engaging enthusiastically with their tailored curriculum. In English, they're exploring imaginative texts and creating their own stories featuring themselves as characters. Mathematics lessons focus on number skills through hands-on activities with materials like dice and number lines, making abstract concepts accessible and meaningful.

Geography lessons connect students with important people, places and spaces, developing their understanding of the world around them and how to care for their environment. It's wonderful to see each student progressing at their own pace and celebrating their individual achievements.

HVS Senior Secondary Pathways Program

Monty Cafe is proving to be a wonderful success! Our students are developing impressive vocational skills, confidently operating coffee machines, taking customer orders, and managing transactions with growing independence and enthusiasm.

The cafe provides authentic learning experiences that celebrate our students' unique abilities. Watching their confidence grow when serving customers and delivering orders shows just how valuable these real-world connections are. Their communication skills continue to flourish through these interactions, creating meaningful pathways to independence.

Our famous chocolate chip biscuits have staff lining up each week. From measuring ingredients to proudly delivering their creations, each step builds practical skills and genuine pride in their achievements.

Monty Cafe continues to be a vibrant learning environment where our students develop essential life and work skills while making valued contributions to our school community.
