What’s Happening in Grade 2
Welcome to 2025!
We’re off to a fantastic start this year, with students settling into their new routines and learning classroom procedures. They’ve been engaged in exciting and meaningful learning experiences, discovering new skills and concepts along the way.
Grade 2 is a year full of growth, independence, and fun! Our focus is on building confidence, encouraging students to challenge themselves, and supporting them as they take risks in their learning. If you have any questions throughout the year, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s classroom teacher—we’re here to help!
We’re looking forward to a wonderful year ahead!
Take Home Readers
Take-home books have gone home with students! These books are designed to be easy and enjoyable reads to help your child build fluency, accuracy, and confidence when reading aloud.
We kindly ask that you record one book per night in your child’s diary, noting the date and book title. Book satchels should be brought to school every day to keep up with the reading routine.
We encourage families to aim for five nights of reading per week, with each session lasting around 10 minutes. If your child is feeling tired, try sharing the reading—taking turns line by line or page by page can make it a fun and supportive experience!
Thank you for your support in encouraging a love of reading! 📚😊
