Principal's Message

Dear Parents/Carers,

SCHOOL COUNCIL 2025

I’d like to welcome Kylie Foreman, Nick Mills and Stephanie Packer to our School Council for the 2025-2026 school years.

We had quite a bit of interest which is pleasing but ultimately we had three parents submit paperwork by the due date/time.

We really appreciate Kylie, Nick and Stephanie joining our council and we are also equally pleased that our incumbent members are again contributing as an School Council member.

At our next meeting on Tuesday 18th March at 7.30pm we will hold the AGM at which all current executive positions will be dissolved and an election for office bearers will take place.

We will also ask members to nominate sub-Committees which they would be happy to join.

Your 2025 School Council is comprised of 8 parents and 4 Department of Education representatives as follows;

Georgina Logan (P), Clinton Brown (P), Liz Leonard (P), Greg Gent (P), Kylie Foreman (P), Nick Mills (P), Aaron Hammersley (P), Stephanie Packer (P), Edwina Medro (DE), Tonya Ferguson (DE), Danielle Toone (DE) and myself (DE).

Again, thank you for your contribution to our great school.

QUESTACON VISIT

Every year, Questacon’s national programs bring science and technology to Australians across the country.

Some are offered in Canberra, and some take to the road to deliver exciting experiences to the rest of the country.

We were very fortunate to have them at our school this week with all students participating in workshops which showed the fun side of science.

We encourage all of our students to show interest in Science because it is a great investment in theirs and our future.

Questacon Circus are holding a free pop-up science centre at Warrnambool Showgrounds tomorrow Saturday 22nd February. Tickets are free but you must book through ticketek

ATHLETICS PRACTISE

Our students have been working hard for the upcoming school athletics sports.

Some of the more challenging events; Triple Jump, Shot Put and Discus are difficult to master so it's important for the students to have a lot of practise.

The Whole Achool Athletics sports are being held on Friday 21st March across our school grounds.

The Fundraising Committee will be organising a canteen for the day so please stay tuned for more information.

It will be a great day for parents and students to share at school and as always please let your classroom teacher or Cherine Owen know if you can assist on the day.

CONGRATULATIONS SAM TURNER

Congratulation to Sam Turner for winning a bronze medal for Javelin at the Regional Little Athletics on the weekend.

WORKING BEE - SATURDAY 3RD MAY 2025 - WHITE ELEPHANT SALE

The Buildings and Grounds Sub-Committee have confirmed that Saturday 3rd May will be the first working bee for the year.

It won’t be a usual working bee rather it will be a ‘White Elephant’ sale where we will be selling school items which are in surplus and no longer needed at school.

Items may include; Kayaks, Fishing Equipment, Desks and Chairs among many other things. We will be highlighting items on Facebook closer to the time.

You may see something that interests you or if you think someone else might be interested please let them know.

All proceeds raised will go to our school grounds masterplan.

YEAR 2 CAMP PORT FAIRY - WEDNESDAY 26TH TO THURSDAY 27TH MARCH

Preparations for the Year 2 Port Fairy Camp are just about complete. This is a great event for our Year 2 students to commence the year.

Please ensure that all Medical and Consent forms are completed and returned with payment as soon as possible.

If you're experiencing difficulties with payment please reach out to me as we want to ensure that all our students have the same opportunity to experience such a wonderful camp. All discussions are strictly in confidence.

WARRNAMBOOL COLLEGE AND BRAUER COLLEGE OPEN NIGHTS

Choosing a high school can be a daunting process, that's why its a great opportunity to attend the high school open nights. Both Warrnambool College and Brauer College have open nights scheduled next month and I encourage to you attend.

SMOKING AND VAPING AROUND SCHOOLS

Parents, carers, schools, and community all play an important role in protecting children and young people from the harmful effects of smoking and vaping.

This is why a person must not smoke cigarettes, including e-cigarettes (regardless of whether they contain nicotine or are prescribed for therapeutic use) within a school premises and within 4 metres of any pedestrian access to school premises.

Signs are erected at all entrances into the school and we ask that everyone abides by this.

Have a great weekend.
