Foundation News

Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Welcome to a brand-new academic year with lots of joy and excitement ahead. With the support of our great family community, the Foundation students have now settled well into their classes. It has been wonderful to see their enthusiasm for learning and forming new friendships.
We are enjoying exploring social skills and developing language and vocabulary through our morning routine, of hands-on activities with great vigour. Thank you for your ongoing support with helping them transition to school life. We look forward to working with you and celebrating a fantastic year of learning.
What We Learned This Week
Literacy: We explored new stories through shared reading, learning to recognise our names and letters and sounds for Mm and Ss, which is embedded in our Little Learners Love Literacy sessions that occur daily.
Numeracy: Students have been introduced to the hands on Maths materials in the classroom. They have been using these materials develop their number sense. This included counting up to to 10 and down to 0 and simple number games.
Social Skills: Learning to share, take turns, and work together has been a focus to become a member of our class/ school community. Students have learned class routines and the school values of Learn, Respect, Responsible, and Resilient. The immediate support people in the playground available to our students during recess and lunch times are the Yard Duty teachers. We encourage our students to seek the support from them during social play time when faced with a challenging situation.
