School Council

Three Parent Members Required and 1 Community Member Required

In 2024 our School Council consisted of Parent, Community and Department of Education (DET) members including; School Council President; Dr Ajay Shiv Sharma, Vice President: Ashwani Bhardwaj; Treasurer: Rahima Ahmed; DET Member; Christina Arnold, Principal; Amanda Williams, Co-Opted Community Member Adrian Gonnella; College Captains Anani Hailu Tadesse and Samyukta Made; and General Members Mohammed Shiekh, Angela Smith and Geetanjali Gaba. I would like to extend a sincere thank you for their outstanding governance and support of our wonderful school. 

Our school constituting orders as endorsed by the Minister for Education; Mr Ben Carroll MP, state that our Council shall consist of the Principal, one department employee, seven parents and one community member.

The role of School Council as outlined in the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 is one of helping to set the long term future for the school and maintaining an overview of the school’s operation. The Principal is responsible for the management of the school and acts as the Executive Officer of Council.

To form our School Council for 2025 we have three parent member positions vacant and 1 Community Member vacant. If you would like to make a worthwhile contribution to the school, please collect a nomination form following the time line as documented below. 

The timeline for the nomination process is as follows:

· Nomination forms have been available from the office from Wednesday 12th February 2025. 

· Nominations close at 4.00pm on Wednesday 19th February 2025. 

· If we need to hold an election, a list of candidates and nominators will be posted by Monday 24th  February 2025. 

· If an election is required, ballots will be distributed on or before Wednesday 26th February 2025.

· If an election is required, ballots will close at 4.00pm on Wednesday 28th February 2025.

· Vote count and declaration of poll will be Monday 3rd March 2025.

The first School Council meeting to elect office bearers will be on Monday 17th March 2025.
