It's a KID'S DISCO GLOW PARTY! Brought to you by the BPS Community Engagement Commitee and hosted by Bop Til You Drop, a company with over 20 years experience in operating dance parties for kids. Bop Til You Drop's entertainers are experienced in how to positively encourage children to participate in a structured disco environment. What to expect at the disco:
- It's a GLOW PARTY! Kids can expect lots of glow in the dark fun with black UV lighting, as well as disco lights. They are encouraged to wear white & neon coloured clothing and glow accessories for maximum fun.
- Professional entertainer hosting and dancing on stage for the entire duration of the disco.
- The entertainer will conduct a structured disco and karaoke party where the children get to be POP STARS.
- The Entertainer will teach funky dance moves, as well as encouraging them to do their own freestyle dance moves.
- The entertainer will pick various children to sing on real microphones.
- Children are asked to bring their own drink bottles, and water will be available as needed.
- Formal check-in and check-out system of all children will be facilitated by our teachers and volunteers.
Who can participate:
All Banyule Primary students are invited and encouraged to attend. Parents are NOT allowed to stay/watch. The children will be supervised by a group of volunteer parents/carers, all with valid Working With Children checks. There will also be two BPS teaching staff members and first-aiders in attendance.
What if I my child is nervous or could get overwhelmed at the disco? We understand that some children might feel apprehensive or get overwhelmed at the disco and our aim it to make it an inclusive event that they can all enjoy. There will be a dedicated supervised Quiet Room where they can take a break. Please refer to the Disco Social Story published in the newsletter and shared on class WhatsApp chats for more information about how to prepare your child for what to expect at the disco. You can also request the information from the CEC by emailing banyuleps.cec@gmail.com.
What to wear:In addition to closed toe shoes that they can dance in, kids are encouraged to dress in white or neon and accessorise with things that will glow in the UV light. As part of our commitment to sustainability, the CEC will not be providing glow sticks. Instead, we will purchase additional black lights that can be re-used for years to come.
What to bring:Children are asked to bring their labelled drink bottles filled with water so they can have drinks as they with throughout the disco.
What NOT to bring: Phones. Mobile phones will NOT be permitted so if your child has one, please kindly leave it at home.
Check-in: There will be tables set up outside the gym (near the new TigerTurf basketball court) for you to sign-in your child.
Check-out:Parents will be let into the gym (a small group at a time) via the gym door closest to the big shelter to collect and sign out their child.
