John XXIII Rowing Club

Dear Rowing Families
The girls’ squad competed in another successful IGSSA regatta last weekend and showed great adaptability and resilience in dealing with injury and crew changes on the day.
The boys’ squad are training hard and getting to as many sessions as possible in between exams. Please remember to speak to your coach if you cannot be at the session as this assists us in planning for boat usage.
With the weather getting wetter and colder, please remember to bring sneakers, a towel and a change of clothes in case we have to do a land session, or it rains heavily.

There is no regatta this weekend for either squad, so please enjoy the extra day off. After this weekend we have regattas for four weekends in a row as Allschool’s regattas commence on the 15th of June.
There are three weekends in a row for the girls, culminating in the Head of the River on the 21st of June.
With all of these events coming up, please make sure you are getting adequate rest, eating well and staying hydrated to achieve at school and at rowing.
Sign up for all regattas will be sent out shortly.
2025 Year 8 Learn to Row
Our Year 8’s had to battle cross winds this week on the water and many got lots of practise maneuvering the boats around.
Initially, the Year 8’s were going to race in the Allschool’s regatta on the 15th of June however with almost half of the Year 8’s away at music camp, a decision has been made that they will instead compete in Allschool’s 2, on the 28th of June and in Term 3, on Saturday 26th July. Year 8’s do not need to purchase a Zootsuit and can race in their PE uniform.
A what’s app group has been created for the Year 8 parents so please contact me if you haven’t been added to that. You can still contact me via email in the meantime.
Year 7 Learn to Row
The Year 7 Learn to Row program will be held in Term 3, details and registration will be sent out towards the end of the term.
Please contact me if you have any queries.
Uniforms
The new Zootsuit is now in stock at the Uniform Shop. There is also a training top which can be worn under the zootsuit. The only compulsory item is the Zootsuit for racing at regattas. There is stock of the old Zootsuit which can be worn. Year 8s can wear their PE uniform to race in and are not required to purchase a Zootsuit.
Stack Team App
Please download the Stack Team App if you have not already done so. This app is one of our main avenues for communication with rowers and their parents. This is the central place for training schedules, training updates, and rowers can contact their coach in case of illness or injury and missed trainings. It is important that all rowers and parents have access.
To get this app please go to the App Store or Google Play and download Stack Team App onto your mobile device, then follow these simple steps:
- Sign-up to Stack Team App. You’ll be sent an email to confirm your registration.
- Log-in and search for JTCRC, then request to become a member.
