SAVE THE DATE(S): PARENT TEACHER MEETINGS 1st or 2nd July
We trust that everyone enjoyed the extended weekend. A friendly reminder as we head into the winter months, personal hygiene is an important part that everyone plays to reduce the spread of viruses. If your child has a temperature or is feeling unwell, we kindly ask that they stay home to rest and recover.
LITERACY
The past fortnight students have continued to enjoy Nevermoor and experiment with the authorial technique of 'show, don't tell' to write descriptively. Students have used their senses to describe an island and are now in the publishing stages. If you have a moment to come and view their work, it is being displayed around our classrooms.
Additionally, students are reviewing their Semester One goals and updating some pieces to display relating to aspirations for their final months of primary school.
MATHS
In Mathematics, the classes have focused on their own targeted revision around basic skills as well as applying these skills to create algebraic equations for geometric patterns.
INQUIRY
The students continue to access the online Inquisitive platform to support their learning for Civics & Citizenship. Next week, we will revisit the two elections that each bus completed in Canberra at the Electoral Education Centre. We will combine the votes to complete a master recount to see what happens to the outcomes.
THE RESILIENCE PROJECT
This week our students explored the many situations when we might experience simultaneous emotions. We heard from several of the Matildas players who shared the highs and lows of playing international sport. Many of the players reported feeling immense pride alongside the devastation of their World Cup Semi-Final loss. Gaining awareness of our emotions is a powerful tool which enables us to have greater control over them.
Congratulations and thank you to all those who auditioned for A Night at the Museum. A review of auditions and full casting will be communicated shortly.
