This Week At OOPS

Cyber Safety Project
During our Cyber Safety Project incursion, the Year 6s learnt about the importance of keeping their personal details to themselves and not sharing them online. We were encouraged to reach out to our parents, teachers, Kids Helpline or esafety.gov.au if we needed any support with online problems.
Year 4 Chance Scenarios
In Year 4 we have been exploring chance language and what that can look like. By using cubes, matchsticks and popsicle sticks, the students were able to create different chance scenarios. Have a look at the fabulous scenarios they created! Some might have even added the percentage of chance too!
Year 1 Literacy
The Year 1s enjoyed partner reading this week. They focused on changing their voice as they read to make the book more exciting. It was great to hear each partnership give feedback to one another using "I like how you" and "Next time try". Well done, Year 1s!
Reconciliation Week
To celebrate Reconciliation Week in 6EH, we read the book 'Come Together' by Isaiah Firebrace. We then chose a page and reworded the information so that it could be easily understood by a Prep student. We will be reading them to our Prep buddies and see if we succeeded in writing for a different audience.
STEM
Year 1 & 2 students are learning about how minibeasts use camouflage for protection. They created their own stick insects which would camouflage into the environment.
Prep Discovery
This week in Prep, we have learnt the sounds /ff/ and /ss/, read the book Rainbow Fish To The Rescue, learnt about the ways to make 10 and explored the meaning of the words 'short' and 'long'. Our Discovery prompts were:
English: Can you find all the CVC words in the picture?
Maths: What numbers could make up the Numicon houses?
Collage: Can you make Rainbow Fish with his sparkly scale?
Construction: How can you build the longest bridge?
Dramatic Play: Can you make up your own Rainbow Fish story?
Fine Motor: Can you floss the "teeth" to make them clean again?
This week's Inspectors were Sofia (PNT), Charlie & Hazel (PMB), Emilie (PBF). All photos were what our inspectors captured in our Discovery sessions.
Year 3 Inquiry
The Year 3 students have been learning all about convict children and the first fleet. They have researched what conditions were like and their experiences and created character profiles about a convict child of their choosing. We are featuring the work of Maddie 3AK, Meika 3AK, Ollie 3AK, Indi 3AK, Adeline 3AK & Sarah 3AK
