Inquiry Centre

Highlight

Selamat Siang,

We have been busy in the Inquiry Centre this week!

In Maths, we focused on the concept of length and learned how to use both formal measurement tools, like rulers and measuring tapes, and informal tools, such as hand spans, snap cubes, and crayons. We discussed why it's important to choose the right tool for different types of measuring tasks.

One of the most exciting activities was estimating lengths. Students guessed how long different objects were, like pencils, glue sticks, and mini whiteboards, before measuring them to find the actual length. They then calculated the difference between their estimates and the real measurements. This helped them practise both measuring and maths skills in a fun, hands-on way. It was wonderful to see their confidence grow as they improved at estimating and checking their answers.

Over in Writing, our classrooms were full of creativity and colourful ideas as students explored different types of poetry. We wrote acrostic poems, colour poems, haiku, and shape poems. Students enjoyed playing with words, using descriptive language, and proudly sharing their poems with the class.

It has been a wonderful week full of learning, discovery, and imagination!

Have a fabulous weekend!

Reminders

  • Whilst Pokemon cards are a lot of fun, we are asking that these cards only be bought to school on a Friday when Pokémon club is on.
  • We are asking for students to leave small toys at home as some of the toys that have recently been brought to school are going missing which of course brings great disappointment.
  • Students are growing and at times very hungry! They are encouraged to bring some fruit/vegetables to have during a fruit break mid-morning.
