Interschool Sports
Geelong Cross Country
On our student free day, Skye Gamosa competed at the Geelong Cross Country. Skye ended up winning the Senior (17-20yr) Boys Cross Country 5km race, being the clear winner with almost a full minute lead. Congratulations to Skye, and good luck for the Western Metro Cross Country in a few weeks.
Interschool Sports
Over the last few weeks, we've had lots of interschool sports go out. There's been year 7 and 8 Boys Footy, year 7 and 8 Boys Soccer, Senior Boys Footy, Senior/Inter Girls Footy, Junior Girls Netball and Junior Badminton. Great job to all students and coaches who were involved in these events.

Rugby Academy Update
Since our last update our Rugby Academy has played and defeated Melton Secondary College to secure the Mana Cup (see images) as well as positive results for both the Under 16 boys and girls’ teams.
We also were very excited to host Sunshine Secondary College on Friday May 23rd. This was the first time on our new Rugby Pitch, and we would like to thank both the Bendigo Bank and Lara Sporting Club along with Academy Movement in making this pitch a possibility.
These matches were played with 10 a side instead of the usual 15 a side. The college community, along with family and friends from both schools and an excited Lara Primary School crowd turned out to cheers on the teams. All 3 age groups of boy’s teams had. A win and the girls’ team had their best performance to date, going down by just 2 try’s.
We were also lucky enough to have the state coach from Rugby Victoria attend the day and he was very impressed by the quality of Rugby Played, along with some impressive team and individual performances.
Well done to all involved especially Mr Richards and Coach Ephraim.

Senior Cricket Academy Update
The senior academy students have continued their work on learning the movements required for their bowling and batting skills. Until now, the weather had been suitable to still be outdoors and using the local facilities.
This terms focus has been on strength and conditioning, developing our fundamentals further and officiating.
As part of our strength and conditioning phase, the students have taken part in several cricket specific programs. Students have been busy exercising through a 6-week plan to improve their individual games, which includes bowling and batting specific strength exercises, sprint training and started to add some resistance training.
Alongside our strength and conditioning training, we have used the additional time to work on our fundamental skills. Students being under fatigue from the exercises done before hand, creates the opportunity to stick to the basics of their batting and bowling. As we know, when we are fatigued it is harder to produce quality such as our batting, bowling and fielding. Students are likely to move to more indoor training at school this term to improve our fundamentals and more complexed skills.
As part of our academy movement cricket program, students can gain an officiating certificate. This has been started via the online portal on academy movement, once the theory work has been completed, students will be assessed from a practical point of view.
The students overall have been fantastic in their participation in the topics mentioned above and I continue to see that growth in them.
