Empowering Year 12 Students through Health Promotion

Last week, our Year 12 male students took part in a powerful and engaging health promotion discussion focused on the themes of healthy relationships, consent, healthy masculinity, and mental health. The session was designed to equip students with the knowledge and tools needed to make positive, respectful, and informed decisions as they approach adulthood.

The discussion began with a deep dive into what constitutes a healthy relationship—emphasising respect, communication, boundaries, and mutual support. Students explored real-life scenarios and participated in open conversations about navigating friendships, romantic relationships, and family dynamics.

A key focus was on consent, where students were encouraged to understand it not just as a legal concept, but as an ongoing, enthusiastic, and mutual agreement in all interactions. The session highlighted the importance of clear communication and respect for personal boundaries.

The concept of healthy masculinity also sparked meaningful dialogue. Students reflected on societal expectations and pressures placed on young men, and how redefining masculinity to include vulnerability, empathy, and emotional expression can benefit everyone in the community.

Mental health was woven throughout the session, with an emphasis on reducing stigma, recognizing signs of distress in themselves and others, and seeking help when needed. Students left with practical strategies for self-care and supporting their peers.

This discussion is part of our broader commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment. We are proud of our students for their maturity and engagement, and we look forward to continuing these vital conversations throughout the year.

Year 12 girls will have their session this week.

New Yoga & Meditation Classes for year 12 students

This term, we are excited to introduce yoga and meditation classes for our year 12 students, offering a calming space to unwind, refocus, and build mindfulness skills. It will be offered weekly with sessions focused on breath work, meditation and movement. The sessions are designed to support students’ wellbeing, reduce stress, and improve concentration—especially important during a busy academic year.

Bunji Program Begins for Year 7 Students

In Bunji Program Week 3, students focused on respectful communication, active listening, and managing emotions in a positive way. They practised asking thoughtful questions, understanding different perspectives, and supporting one another through challenges. A key part of their learning came from watching staff role-play real-life scenarios, including examples of disrespectful language or behaviour. These role-plays led to open, reflective conversations about how words and actions can affect others. By observing the staff model both negative and positive interactions, students were able to better understand the importance of respectful communication and how to apply these skills in their own relationships.

The challenge for the week involved moving through the school to deliver their special treat package to the junior sub-school and canteen. This activity encouraged students to work together, communicate effectively, and take responsibility for one another’s actions. A highlight from the session was witnessing one student offer genuine support and guidance to a peer—demonstrating empathy, leadership, and care within the group. Week 3 was a strong reminder of the positive impact that shared experiences, guided reflection, and supportive relationships can have. We are proud of the growth each student has shown and look forward to building on this momentum in the weeks ahead..
