Embracing the Hope that Friday Brings

As an EREA Catholic school community, Founder’s Day this Friday 6 June is more than a date on the calendar—it is a celebration of our origins and a time to reflect on the dedication and faith of those before us.

It reminds us as to why our school exists - the belief in the transformative power of education grounded in Gospel values and our four Touchstones. A place where our young people could grow not only in knowledge, but in character, compassion, and a sense of responsibility to others.

In celebrating Founder’s Day, we also celebrate the diversity of our present community. Our vision always centres on the dignity of each of our students, and through the faith filled and activity-centred day, an opportunity to reflect on how we can continue to build a welcoming and inclusive environment- after all it is the year of our inclusivity theme.

It warms me to see in my daily interactions, that our Middle School students live out these Edmund Rice values each day, based around:

  • celebrating our shared values of love, inclusion, and service

  • reaching out to those on the margins

  • strengthening the bonds of unity across individuals/classrooms/playgrounds/co-curricular events.

  • inspired by faith to act with courage and compassion in all interactions with peers and staff.

As we mark this special day on Friday, let us do so with gratitude for those who came before us, and with hope for the future we are building together. Let us walk forward with open hearts, united as one school and as one community.
