Junior School  Report

Jocelyn Gepp

As we reach the midpoint of Term 2, it's been wonderful to witness the enthusiasm and engagement of our students across various programs and activities. Here's a snapshot of what's been happening in our Junior School:

  • Our Year 8 students have been participating in Positive Wellbeing sessions facilitated by Ballarat Community Health. These sessions focus on building resilience, fostering positive relationships, and promoting mental health awareness.

  • In celebration of Mother's Day, our Year 7 students enjoyed a special morning tea organized by the Year 12 VCE:VM students. It was a heartwarming event that brought together students and their families to honour the important role of mothers and motherly figures.

  • Our Year 9 students have completed their Morrisby profiling, an insightful tool that helps them understand their strengths and interests, aiding in future career and education planning.

  • A group of our Year 9 students have commenced the 'Beyond Boxing' program run by Ballarat YMCA. This initiative aims to teach young people conflict avoidance through emotional intelligence and mindfulness strategies.

Our fortnightly assemblies continue to be a platform for discussing school expectations and celebrating student achievements. It's inspiring to see students recognized for their hard work and positive contributions to our school community.

As the colder months approach, please ensure that your child is adhering to the school's uniform policy. Hoodies, tracksuit pants and out of school jackets are not permitted. If you require assistance with uniform items, don't hesitate to reach out to your child Year Level Coordinator.

Looking ahead, I anticipate that the remainder of Term 2 will offer our Junior School students continued growth and positive educational experiences. Thank you for your ongoing support in helping make Woodmans Hill Secondary College a great place to learn and thrive.
