Year 10 Students Take Flight with Ultimate Frisbee

Our Year 10 students are currently in the middle of a highly enjoyable unit on Ultimate Frisbee. A dynamic, non-contact team sport that promotes inclusivity and teamwork, Ultimate Frisbee has provided students with a fresh and challenging addition to their Physical Education experience.

Throughout the unit, students are working on developing key throwing and catching skills essential to the game, with a particular focus on the technique required to throw the frisbee in a straight and accurate line. They are exploring the biomechanics behind a successful throw — including grip, angle of release, follow-through, and body positioning — to enhance their control and consistency.

As students’ skills progress, they apply them in small-sided games, further building their understanding of offensive and defensive strategies. The self-refereed nature of Ultimate Frisbee also gave students an opportunity to develop leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills in a supportive environment.

It is fantastic to see Year 10 students embracing the spirit of the game, demonstrating great teamwork, resilience, and a willingness to step outside their comfort zones.
