What’s Happening in Year 3 in Weeks 9, 10 and 11

The Year 3 students loved having their Grandparents and Special Friends visit on Friday the 13th. The students have enjoyed working on their swimming skills and have shown maturity and great organisation during the program so far.

If there are any parents/carers in 3J and 3C who would still be interested in volunteering to assist at a swimming session, there is availability on Thursday 19th in 3C and Friday 20th in 3J. If you're available, please use the links below to sign up. Thank you!

Year 4

What’s Happening in Year 4 in Weeks 9, 10 and 11

It is difficult to believe that we are fast approaching the end of Term One!

Friday’s Grandparents and Special Friends Day was, once again, one of the highlights of the school year. The children loved completing the task with their visitors and smiles were everywhere around the school.

Wellbeing

Students are currently continuing with strategies to help regulate themselves in the school yard. They are also continuing to listen to the ‘Grow Your Mind’ Podcast.

Literacy

Our spelling program, Word Origins, is continuing to be implemented throughout the cohort. Students are enjoying learning about the origins of different morphemes and completing tasks based these morphemes. Writing sessions are continuing to focus on persuasive writing techniques.

Maths

Over the coming weeks, students will be participating in a two week focus on telling the time. The students will be divided into groups across the year level to complete a variety of time related concepts. These sessions will include both analogue and digital time. Elapsed time problem solving strategies will also be introduced.

Knowledge Unit

Our Knowledge Unit, Civics and Citizenship, will continue to focus on how laws are created and changed, over the final few weeks of the term.

Homework

The Year 4 students are expected to read every night and record their progress in their personal diaries. It is the responsibility of the student to bring their diary to school every day and take it home each night to log their reading. Classroom teachers will be checking and signing these diaries regularly to monitor student reading habits. The student diary will also be used to highlight important dates and reminders. It is also encouraged that students practise their times tables, particularly the 2, 5 and 10 tables as rapid recall tests will soon be happening in classrooms throughout the term.

Important Year 4 Dates:

  • Friday 4th July – Last day of Term 2 2:30pm dismissal
