🍓STRAWBERRY in THE FIELDS FOREVER (not)🍓
🐸NO DUCK NO DINNER🐸
and
😱CAN YOU COUNT TO 10?😱
Date - Thursday August 31.
Season - Winter 🥶
💚Proud moment💚 - A couple of our trusty garden crew, Sylvie and Linda, arrive with two donated guinea pigs, Strawberry (AKA Rambo), and Meg. Thanks girls 🙏.
💩 Not so proud moment💩 - The following morning we bring Strawberry outside the cage to have a munch on the tasty, green St Louis garden grass. Strawberry runs into the bushes, the trusty garden crew momentarily panic 😱 and then set out on a mission to find her 🧐🥸. Over the coming days we pray 🙏, set traps, pray 🙏, hunt, pray🙏, leave heaps of food out and I mean heaps…….!!! There are numerous sightings. We are sure she is alive……we think 🤔, we hope, we pray 🙏.
Date - Thursday September FYI 7 DAYS LATER
Season - Spring 🌼
💚Proud moment 💚 - Strawberry is spotted in an open field near the garden bridge😉. The possum trap is set; one 🥕, two 🍓🍓, and a whole lot of hope 🤞🙏. Please come back 🥹. We don’t want Strawberry to live in the fields forever 🙄. She tip toes sheepishly into the trap, grabs the strawberry and the door slams shut. WE GOT HER 🎉 🎉 🎉! What a relief 😅.
🦆No duck no dinner🐸 - A couple of weeks ago we noticed that our frog population was starting to rapidly decline. It occurred every ‘Reptile Wednesday’. We check out the reptile enclosures, bring the ducks and Gwen goose up for a swim in the frog pond and leave them there throughout the day. Ducks and Gwen loved it 😋 . The frogs were eaten 😱. With our new duck pond now in full swing the ducks are happy and the frog population is growing. Win win 🏆 🏆.
💚Proud moment💚 - Lou, one of our highly experienced guinea pig husbandry team💡, designed and created some labels we can use to number our garden beds. Talk about versatility Lou. Very impressive 😊. Some of our dream team helped her cut them out and hammer them onto the beds. Both creative and practical. They look fantastic thanks team😍. I’m not sure they can count up to ten though 🤪. What do you think 🤭?
💪A whole lot of muscle💪 - First play every Friday stewardship reigns supreme. ‘Tidy Friday’ brings students from all levels down into the garden to help keep it looking beautiful 🤩. Digging, raking, animal husbandry, you name it we do it. Here some of the boys are lifting the wheelbarrow of mulch into the compost bay. Teamwork makes the dream work I say. All power to you boys 💣 and thanks.
❤️A huge thank you to all those families who have offered to help with animal care over the holidays. If anyone would like to help out please contact me and I can show you what’s involved.
