ASHEfest

We are the Buroinjin Challenge Champions for 2023! Well done to our GSSC students for winning all three divisions at ASHEfest held yesterday. Absolute stellar effort.

Held annually by ASHE Shepparton, ASHEfest is a three-day event bringing schools together from across the region to celebrate the history and culture of First Nations people.

Tuesday 5 September was the first day of the festival where secondary schools competed in the Buroinjin Challenge. Buroinjin is a ball game originating from the Kabi Kabi people of South Queensland and traditionally uses a small kangaroo skin ball.

Thank you to ASHE Shepparton - The University of Melbourne, Rumbalara Football Netball Club, GOTAFE, Greater Shepparton City Council, VicHealth, sponsors and local elders and special guests who gave up their time to make this such a special event for our young people.
