From the

Leadership Team

Over the last two weeks of Term 3, Greater Shepparton Secondary College has been buzzing with a flurry of extra-curricular activities that have left us all in awe of the incredible talent within our student body. These activities, ranging from local to regional events, have not only enriched our students' experiences but have also demonstrated the remarkable achievements they've attained.

The Arts and Music Domains, in particular, have shone brightly this fortnight, showcasing the exceptional creativity and dedication of our students. Their artistic creations and musical performances were nothing short of spectacular, leaving a lasting impression on all who witnessed them. We sincerely hope that you had the opportunity to visit the college and witness these remarkable achievements first hand. Speaking of talent, we would like to acknowledge Year 7 student Riley Wooster who was selected for the Victorian State School’s Spectacular. From all accounts, he WAS spectacular!

On the sporting front, our students have continued to make us proud. Three of our Saturday morning netball teams not only reached the grand finals but also emerged victorious in two of them. This success is a testament to their hard work, skill, and teamwork. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the parents and caregivers who have been unwavering in their support, both on and off the field.

For a more detailed account of these events and achievements, we invite you to peruse the articles featured in this edition of the Newsletter. It is through these stories that we hope to capture the essence of the past two weeks and celebrate the incredible accomplishments of our students. As we move forward into the next term, let us continue to nurture and support the remarkable talents within our GSSC community. This Newsletter is an important tool for keeping up with all the great things that we do.

At Greater Shepparton Secondary College, we recognize the invaluable role of parents, guardians, and caregivers in shaping the educational journey of our students. However, recent feedback from the Department Parent Opinion survey and Campfire Conversations has highlighted a need to strengthen this connection. We are committed to fostering a collaborative relationship to enhance the educational experience for our students.

Your involvement, beyond a parent-teacher-student interview, is vital in shaping the future of our students, and we encourage you to email us with your thoughts and suggestions. We can only get “Greater” when we support our young people together.

In conclusion of this report, a reminder that it is already that time of year when our Year 12 VCE students are finishing their learning and spending time revising in preparation for their upcoming exams. We wish you productive study time and all the very best over the next few weeks.

Have an enjoyable Spring break and we’ll see students back on Monday 2nd October.
