From the Principal

Hello everyone and welcome to Spring

What an amazing few weeks we have had with our school receiving a National Excellence Award for Special Education School of the Year. The Deputy Principals and I attended the award presentation evening in Sydney with Director Duncan Auld and we were so proud of our school.

Following this we were invited to attend the historic launch of the NSW Auslan K-10 syllabus. Have a look in Anson in Review for the full story and pictures.

We have been awarded a NSW Secretary and Minister's Award but I have been sworn to secrecy, so you will have to wait for the next newsletter to find out the details (sshhh)

Congratulations to the students involved in the Orange Eisteddfod with success in both drumming and dance. See Anson in Review for photos.

We have had a number of staff changes in the past few weeks, welcoming 3 university students to our school, Ms Briton, Ms Callen and Ms Whan, new teacher Mrs Auston and farewelling 2 of our executives on maternity leave. Mrs Lloyd and her family will be caring for a little boy who will be joining their family and Mrs Mel Said and her husband have welcomed a beautiful baby boy, Joey. I'm sure his 2 sisters will cover him with love and cuddles and we wish them all the best as they settle into life with a new bub in the home. Both women have made a significant contribution and difference to our school over the years they have worked with us and we look forward to seeing them back sometime in 2024.

We are also sad to see Mrs Emma Jeffery leave our school to take up an exciting, new opportunity. Mrs Jeffery has been a wonderful School Learning Support Officer (SLSO and more recently Teacher Admin Officer (TAO) and we wish her well in this new endeavour. Mr Matthew Tabbernor has taken up the role of Sports Coordinator while Mrs Said is on leave.

Over the past few weeks, we have also had people training to be doctors through Charles Sturt University visiting our school. This has been a wonderful project to be involved with as these new doctors learn skills of how to best support students with disability when they present at hospital. We are grateful that they are spending time with us during the practical component of their studies.

For the last 2 weeks of Term 3 and the first 2 weeks of Term 4, I will be providing collegiate support to Glenroi Heights PS. I will still be popping into school to see the School Concert and stay in touch with what is happening, but our Deputy Principals Mrs Hudson and Ms Pritchard will be relieving for me and managing the day to day running of the school.

Thanks to the P&C who ran the Father's Day fundraising stall this week. Wishing all our fathers, carer fathers, grandfathers, and the significant men in our student's lives a very happy Father's Day for Sunday. Enjoy your family and the warmer Spring weather.
