School Wide Positive Behaviour Support

The Syndal Stars focus for this week is ‘I look out for others’.

As part of our school value of Care, students are encouraged to be aware of others and their needs and actively help their peers by offering support or suggestions inside and outside of the classroom.

How Foundation Spread their Kindness Wings

In Foundation, students listened to the story ‘Kindness is my Superpower’. We discussed what it means to be kind and how we can show kindness to our parents, teachers, siblings and friends.

In Year 1 and 2, students explored ways they can be supportive, encouraging and empathetic to others. Year 1's created ‘encouraging hands’ by listing 5 ways they can encourage others. Year 2's worked with partners on a given scenario and put themselves in the other person's shoes to think about how they would be feeling and how they could show empathy.

In Year 3 and 4, students have explored strategies - kind to me, kind to you, kind to the planet.

In Year 5 and 6, students looked at how we can make a difference in each other’s lives by being observant and thoughtful. They wrote positive affirmations about their peers to boost their confidence. We read The Kindness Quilt by Nancy Wallace where students noticed the small acts that we are able to do to show kindness, without being asked.
