Enrichment Program, Term 3 (Grades 7 to 10)

On the last two days of Term 3 the College is offering our Enrichment Program on Thursday 28 September and an Activities Day on Friday 29 September. There are no teaching classes timetabled on these two days. This is a wonderful and unique opportunity for students to get involved in an alternative program with a variety of off-site and on-site offerings, engaging in activities with teachers and students that they do not usually get the chance to meet and engage with. It’s about learning new skills while having fun!

Students will need to choose one event for the EP Day on Thursday. Places on each event are strictly limited. A Consent2Go event notification will be sent to all Grade 7 to 10 parents and carers which includes a booking link using ‘TryBooking’ for all activities. The link will open at 7:30pm on Friday 25 August and close at 9:00am on Wednesday 30 August.

On Friday 29 September we have organised an activities day based at school. Each Grade will experience 4 activities; rotating each 80 minutes with a Recess and Lunch break. Activities will include the following: Board games and chill-out zone; STEM and Engineering Challenge; NERF Challenge; and Action Stations.

SCC Homelessness Sleepout

Did you know on any given night, over 122,494 people are experiencing homelessness in Australia? Homelessness affects people all year round. On Friday 8 September, the College is organising a sleepout on the school outdoor basketball court. This sleepout is a way to help our students empathise with the experience of homelessness. This involves sleeping away from home with limited resources or without the availability of comforts such as a bed. We wish to raise awareness and much-needed funds to help those less fortunate. We are encouraging Secondary students to get uncomfortable for a night in solidarity for those who have no choice and spend their night away from somewhere safe.

We invite Secondary students to come and join us for this special experience. We will have a guest speaker, some soup and bread and fun activities prior to setting up our cardboard mattress and sleeping bag and blanket. The student group will be supervised by school staff. A Consent2Go event invitation will be sent to all Secondary parents. Our limit for student numbers for this event is 50.

Quest - Tinderbox Exploration & Fossil Cove Walk and Indoor Bowls

Last Friday, Grade 9 Quest students enjoyed several local short walks at Boronia, Suncoast Drive and Fossil Cove. We had lunch at Pierson's Point battery, Tinderbox, before bussing our way to the Kingborough Bowls Club. We were met by a group of very kind gentlemen who volunteered their time to teach our Grade 9 students and staff about the wonderful world of Lawn Bowls. Needless to say, a great time was had by young and old, though some fierce competition emerged among the staff - in particular, David Witcomb, who we soon learned was a former Year 12 Lawn Bowls Champion!
