CURRICULUM FOCUS

In Reading this week, we are continuing our learning to summarise a fiction text.

VOCABULARY

Summary: An overview of the story, only telling the important parts.

Fiction: A text type that is made up, including narratives or fairy tales.

SWBST:

S (Somebody): Who is the main character?

W (Wanted): What did the main character want or try to do?

B (But): The problem.

S (So): How the problem was solved.

T (Then): What happened at the end of the story? What was the lesson learnt?

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

Using a fiction text, students need to write a summary following SWBST explaining what the text is about.
