In 2026, Gympie East State School will continue to build on the high standards of curriculum delivery established in 2025. We are incredibly proud of the progress and growth our students achieved throughout the year, reflecting the dedication of our staff and the strong learning culture across the school. The distance travelled by students in 2025 places us in a strong position to further consolidate learning and extend outcomes in 2026.
Our curriculum focus for 2026 is reading, with a particular emphasis on explicit instruction for reading. Teachers at Gympie East do an outstanding job supporting students to develop strong reading skills, and this focus will allow us to refine, strengthen and continue these effective practices. Through consistent, evidence-based approaches, we aim to ensure all students are supported to become confident, capable readers who can access and engage with all areas of the curriculum.
Parents and guardians play a vital role in supporting this focus, and we encourage families to continue to support reading at home. Reading regularly with your child, and encouraging them to read texts at an age-appropriate level, helps to build confidence, fluency and a love of reading. These shared experiences strengthen the strong partnership between home and school and support continued success in the classroom.
