‘Look at the birds’

Welcome to the new students, families and staff of Moama Anglican Grammar! It is wonderful to have you as part of our school community!

Respect | Integrity | Compassion

In Matthew 6, Jesus tells his disciples to ‘look at the birds. They are fed and cared for by God even though they don’t sow, reap or store in barns. Birds then become a reminder for us of God’s care and love for each and every person. Jesus left his disciples with a question about the birds, are you not much more valuable than they?

At Moama Anglican Grammar, we confirm the answer is Yes. It is the foundation of our school's core value of Respect. Before we do and achieve, we are valued. God tells us that nothing can change that.

We aim for each student to know and feel that they are noticed, known and valued as we encourage them to aspire to all that they might become.

I chose a bird to remind us as a school of this truth throughout the year, the laughing kookaburra, which also happens to be the state emblem bird of NSW. It seems that God approves, as we had a kookaburra join us at the welcome breakfast for new staff, hovering over our gathering at Johnny & Lyle’s.

Bishop Donald Kirk sends his greetings to the school community as we begin the new academic year. I was able to join him in Griffith on 1st February to celebrate his 40th year of ordained ministry.

Congratulations Bishop Donald!

We thank him for his ongoing prayers for our school community.

Regards,
