Year 8
Inquire and Explore – Little Tree Visit
The sun was shining for our Year 8 Inquire and Explore class as we made our way to Little Tree for our first session of Term 1. The students were introduced to Treen and Jason's beautiful gardens, where they were able to play and embrace their “inner child.” Cuddling the guinea pigs was a class favourite, as was playing table tennis, painting, and dressing up.
However, the absolute highlight for students was “bread-bonding,” where we kneaded bread together and discussed “pizza or chocolate,” and debated our favourite pizza toppings. To finish off our session, warm homemade bread was shared, smothered in butter and jam! Every student left with a smile and an eagerness to return!
Maths Help Sessions Resuming in Term 1
We are pleased to inform you that Maths Help sessions will be resuming in Term 1. These sessions will run on Monday afternoons from 3:15 pm to 4:15 pm in RC2, commencing on Monday, 9 February 2026. Maths Help is designed to provide targeted support for students who require additional assistance with their Mathematics learning. This may include help with understanding classwork, preparing for assessments, or revising key concepts.
Please note that these sessions are not intended for completing homework from other subjects or for general study purposes. To ensure the sessions remain effective and focused, we ask that students only attend if they are seeking specific support with Mathematics. We encourage students who would benefit from extra help to take advantage of this opportunity.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Mathematics faculty or Mr Chris Jennings (Head of Mathematics).
Heifer Training for Deniliquin Show
Years 9 to 12 Agriculture students, along with Year 12 Primary Industries students, are currently training heifers (young female cattle) in preparation for the Deniliquin Show on Saturday, 7 March. So far, Duchess, Select, and Cindy are parading exceptionally well for the students. However, Kizzi, Design, Glamour, Aileen, Crissy, and Julie still require additional training.
Students have learned The Highwayman’s quick‑unhitch knot and are developing their skills in correctly fitting a halter, as well as teaching a heifer to start and stop walking at a steady pace. Each class is rostered to feed the heifers barley, clover/ryegrass hay, cracked wheat, and lupins. Senior students are overseeing and adjusting the quantities and availability of these feeds and have also practised their livestock‑handling skills, including ear‑tagging, vaccinating, and drenching.
