End of Year Message – 2025

What a year we’ve had!

As we reach the end of 2025, I find myself reflecting with immense gratitude and pride. This year truly lived up to my hopes for CPS to be an exceptionally engaging, joyful and welcoming place to be. Before we close this chapter, I invite you to take one final walk through the year with me.　今年もあっという間に終わりを迎えようとしています。CPSが今年度も楽しく、みんなにとって素敵な場所であり続けられたことに喜びを感じます。そんな１年を締めくくる前に、もう一度振り返ってみたいと思います。

Term 1 set the tone beautifully. We began with our annual Start-Up Program, followed by the much-loved Prep T-shirt Presentation, where our newest students officially became part of the CPS family. Families came together for the Bush Dance, and of course, the long-awaited Bubble Launch—a moment that brought unforgettable excitement and buzz to the playground after years of anticipation.We were blessed with perfect weather for the Swimming Carnival, where our Year 3–6 students proudly represented our school. Our Year 5/6 students enjoyed an incredible adventure at Cave Hill Creek Camp, a truly outstanding campsite offering rich and engaging experiences.As the term settled, our Year 3 and Year 5 students approached NAPLAN with confidence and focus. Term 1 concluded with two very special events: the Prep and Year 5/6 Buddy Egg Hunt, and the Prep Community Walk—both made possible by the generous support of our parent helpers.

１学期は毎年恒例のスタートアッププログラムからスタートしました。新入生のプレップ達がCPSのメンバーとなり、ポロシャツの贈り物を受け取り、ブッシュダンスを楽しむ行事も学期初めにありました。数年越しに待ちに待ったシャボン玉を飛ばす行事もようやく施行され、とても賑やかな光景は今でも鮮明に蘇ります。天候に恵まれたスイミングカーニバルでは３〜６年生の生徒たちが胸を張って水泳レースに挑みました。また、５・６年生はケーブヒルクリークのキャンプで普段経験することの出来ないような楽しいアクティビティを楽しみました。学期半ばにはNAPLANで３年生と５年生が自分の実力を発揮することができました。楽しかった１学期は５・６年生とプレップの生徒たちによりエッグハントのイベント、さらにはプレップのコミュニティワォークで締めくくりました。

Term 2 was filled with connection and community spirit. We were treated to a delicious Children’s Day Bento Lunch, lovingly prepared by the PFC and supported by an incredible number of parent volunteers. The term was also packed with sporting events, including Cross Country and Gala Days.During this term, our school undertook the School Review process, where we proudly showcased the unique strengths of CPS. In July, it was an honour to welcome grandparents and special friends to CPS for a lovely morning tea. Parent–Teacher Interviews provided a valuable mid-year opportunity for families and teachers to connect and discuss student progress.

２学期には、PFCと壮大な数の保護者ボランティアによって準備されたこどもの日のお弁当をいただきました。クロスカントリーやガラデーなど、スポーツのイベントもたくさん開催された学期でした。この学期にはスクールレビューがあり、CPSのバイリンガル学校としての独特のプログラムや成果を共有することができました。７月にはグランドペアレンツとスペシャルフレンドをお招きし、一緒にモーニングティをいただきました。普段見ることのない生徒たちの学習や活動する姿をご覧いただくことができ、大変光栄でした。学期末には保護者面談もあり、年半ばの父兄の皆様と教員とのチェックポイントともなりました。

Term 3 buzzed with excitement as the entire school community prepared for our spectacular school production. The performances at Kingston Arts Centre were a true celebration of our students’ talents—I can still picture so many wonderful scenes.Our Year 1/2 students enjoyed their very first incursion with Japan Airlines, learning fascinating facts about aircraft mechanics and making paper planes guided by a certified origami instructor. Alongside this, we held the Year 3–6 Athletics Carnival, Book Fair and Book Parade. Shortly after the production, our Year 3/4 students headed off to Waratah Beach Camp, embracing a range of activities despite the chilly weather. The term concluded with a fun and spirited Footy Colours Day.　

３学期はスクールプロダクションのむけ、学校中が、コミュニティ中がその興奮で溢れていました。キングストンアーツセンターで上演されたパフォーマンスは、生徒たちの才能を象徴するものでした。また本校初となる全日空によるインカージョンに１・２年生の生徒たちが参加したのもこの学期でした。普段聞くことのない飛行機の機材に関する情報を学んだり、資格をもった折り紙の先生に紙飛行機の作り方を教えてもらいました。その他にも、３−６年生によるアスレチックカーニバル、ブックフェア、ブックパレードなどの行事もありました。スクールプロダクションの翌週には、３・４年生がワラタビーチのキャンプに出かけていきました。寒い時期だったにも関わらず、さまざまなアクティビティを楽しむことができましたね。そんな行事盛りだくさんの３学期を締め括ったのはフッティファンデイでした。

And then came Term 4, our final term. Our Year 6 students completed a meaningful Legacy Project, leaving behind a beautiful artwork near the student toilets in the main building. Students across the school participated in Intra-school Transition sessions, connecting with their peers for 2026.Our Swimming Program was a great success, thanks to the dedication of our staff and the support of families. By mid-term, many of us felt as though we already had one foot in 2026. Transition sessions welcomed our future Prep students, helping them feel at home at CPS.Year 1/2 students experienced one of the highlights of their year—the much-anticipated dinner and sleepover at school. We celebrated our graduating Year 6 students with a memorable Graduation Ceremony, supported by both current and former staff. The End of Year Concert brought our entire community together to celebrate a busy and exciting year, and the Prep Summer Festival once again shone, supported by parent volunteers who cooked delicious Japanese fried noodles and assisted with activities.　

そして最終学期の４学期。６年生がレガシープロジェクトとして本校舎の生徒用トイレの前にある大きな棚に素晴らしい絵を描いてくれました。また学校を通して、校内でのトランジッションセッションもあり、来年の学年で一緒になる生徒たちと一緒にアクティビティをする機会がありました。毎年恒例の水泳教室も大成功を収め、父兄の皆様のご協力のおかげで無事に２週間を終了することができました。来年のプレップの生徒を迎え行われたトランジッションの時期には、学校にいる全員が２０２６年の訪れを感じ始めた頃でした。１・２年生は待ちに待ったディナーとお泊まり会のの日が数週間前にありました。現行スタッフ、過去のスタッフたちに見守られながら行われた卒業式はとても感慨深く、まだ多くの人の記憶に新しいのではないでしょうか。先週のエンドオブイヤーコンサートでは、この素晴らしい１年を皆様と一緒に締めくくる大切な時間となりました。今週はプレップの夏祭りなどもあり、最後まで本当に楽しく、有意義な１年間となりました。

None of this happened by chance. Every success this year is a reflection of the dedication, professionalism and care shown by our incredible staff. I am truly grateful for, and proud of, the work they do each and every day. To all CPS staff—thank you.　こういったすべてのことは、CPSの献身的で熱心なスタッフがいてこそ現実となることです。教職員全員に心からお礼を申し上げます。

Our school is also strengthened by an extraordinary parent community. Throughout the year, I have seen parents generously giving their time to support events, fundraising, classroom learning and, most importantly, their children at home. Your partnership makes an enormous difference.　今年度はPFCをはじめとする父兄の皆様に大変お世話になりました。イベント、募金活動、教室での活動など、父兄の皆様のサポートなしでは成し遂げ難いことばかりでした。本当にありがとうございました。また、ご家庭内でのサポートにも感謝申し上げます。

Finally, my heartfelt congratulations go to our students. I am incredibly proud of each and every one of you. Thank you for being who you are and for representing CPS so positively wherever you go.

最後に、CPSの生徒たち。今年も本当に頑張りましたね。いつも一番素晴らしい方法で、一番誇らしい形でそれぞれの人が、CPSの代表として活躍してくれて、本当にありがとう。みんな一人一人が私たちの誇りです。

Thank you for helping us conclude 2025 on such a positive note. I wish all our families a very happy, restful and safe holiday period, and I look forward to welcoming everyone back to CPS in January.

皆様のサポートのおかげで２０２５年もポジティブな形で締めくくることができました。楽しくて、安全なホリデーをお過ごしください。１月にCPSコミュニティ全ての方に会えることを楽しみにしております。
