General Information & Reminders

Dear Year 4 families,
Welcome! We have a full and exciting term ahead. The Year 4 teachers have been impressed with how well students settled in during their first weeks back and are looking forward to a postive and engaging rest of the 2026 school year.
We are spending the first two weeks of term getting to know our new classes and working through our Start-Up program. This valuable time supports students to make new friends, establish strong relationships, revisit school routines and expectations, and reinforce our school norms of Collaboration, Aspiration, Integrity and Resilience.
Communication
All communication this year will be sent via Compass. Please check notifications and emails regularly to stay up to date. Compass is where you will find:
- Attendance information (including submitting absence notes)
- Fortnightly school newsletters
- Sports carnivals and event details
- Excursion and incursion information, permissions, and payments
- Whole‑school announcements
Semester reports
Homework
Homework begins in week 4. Homework is to be done in the student’s homework book. The children will hand in their homework books every week. The day homework is handed out and returned will be different for each teacher depending on the class timetable to allow time for the teacher to correct the student’s work.
Home Reading
During week 3, we will begin with students using their diaries to record their reading. The children are expected to read for 20 minutes each night of the school week with a minimum of 3 nights. They are to record three nights of reading in their diary each week and once this has been done, they are to have their diary signed by a parent before handing it in. Diaries are due the same day as homework books.
Diaries must be brought to school every day so teachers can check reading logs and homework progress. They also will contain important information that your child needs at school such as their log in details for various applications we use.
If you have any concerns or queries throughout the year, the first place to start is with your child’s teacher. We look forward to meeting all of you shortly.
