Snorkeling at Armadale Aquatic Centre | Year 10 Outdoor Recreation

Dean of Teaching and Learning, Ms Rebecca Piccolo

It has been a busy and productive start to the year, with students quickly settling into their new courses and subjects.

At the first Assembly for the year, I invited our students to consider their daily challenges as opportunities - opportunities to grow, to learn, and to become the best version of themselves. I look forward to closely monitoring our students' progress and assisting them in achieving their academic goals in 2024.

2023 Year 12 Academic Results

While we bid farewell our Class of 2023 last year, let us take a moment to celebrate their remarkable achievements.

The median ATAR of our students was 85.20, with six students achieving an ATAR of 90 or above, placing them in the Top 10% of the State:

  • Cohen Wilcox – 99.45
  • Noemi Taverniti – 93.45
  • Hailey Utting – 92.45
  • Lachlan Turner – 91.30
  • Dylan Osborne – 90.85
  • Athea Mae Octot - 90.55

We also congratulate the Dux of John Wollaston, Cohen Wilcox, who not only achieved an outstanding ATAR of 99.45, he was also awarded a Certificate of Excellence for Physics, indicating that he was in the Top 0.5% of candidates in the Physics WACE examination and a Certificate of Distinction. Additionally, five more students were awarded a Certificate of Merit.

Ten students achieved a Certificate IV, in various fields, including Science (Biology) and Preparation for Health and Nursing Studies.

At John Wollaston, we take pride in offering our students a choice of three academic pathways in the senior secondary school – ATAR, General and VET. Congratulations to all our 2023 graduates for their hard work and dedication and to their teachers who have supported them in reaching their best academically and beyond the classroom. We are confident that which ever path you have chosen will continue to serve you well.

Year 11 and 12 Tutorial Sessions

Our senior secondary tutorial sessions will commence in Week 3. These tutorials provide an opportunity for students to receive additional support in their courses before or after school. Students should check SEQTA for the Semester 1 Tutorial times for Year 11 and 12 ATAR and General courses.
