From Christian's desk....

Pancake Tuesday!

When it’s 37C outside what better way to cool down than have pancakes with icecream! Better yet, be sprayed by the hose whilst you’re in line!

Thank you to Karen, the canteen team, our volunteers, and our classroom educators for their efficient distribution of the yummy treats!

Game On - Our Synthetic Sports Field is Ready

This week students have been giving the school’s upgraded Middle School Oval a test drive!  The multi-purpose sports field has provisions for Soccer/Futsal, AFL Auskick, Blasters Cricket, Softball/Tee-Ball, and a running tack.

The field will greatly benefit the PE and Sport program, Middle School students during recess and lunchtime, all students before and after school, and of course, the broader community outside of school hours.

The next steps of the school’s sports field redevelopment involve flattening the lower Soccer pitch, re-shaping the surrounding landscaping with the spill, and re-turfing it with traffic-tolerant kikuyu grass. It is hoped that these improvements will provide students with more opportunities to play all year round.

Special Celebrations Today

Today the school has two very special celebrations.

Afterschool past and present Croydon Hills Primary School staff are farewelling long-standing staff members David Moreland and Lesley Wilson.  David began his teaching career in 1981 at Hawthorn West Primary before joining our community in 1994.  Lesley began her teaching career in 1979 at Wandong Primary before joining our community in 2013.  They have contributed extensively to the school community and its history.  Notably, the School Productions.  Over the past 30 years, Lesley and David have been ‘on call’ as regular and favourite relief teachers of students and staff.  All the best in Beechworth David and Lesley, you’ll be missed!

The school had a visit from the Honourable Sonja Terpstra MP to celebrate the State Government's initiative 'Prep Book Bags'.  It was an opportunity for her to see the completed ceiling reinstatement - a project she advocated funding for as well as our fantastic new field.  At the special assembly held this morning, our students acknowledged CHAPS and their incredible fundraising efforts for the new synthetic field.
