Woodmans Hill Student featured in Next Gen Exhibition

The arts team recently attended the Next Gen exhibition opening at the Art Gallery of Ballarat to support and celebrate the inclusion of Woodmans Hill SC student Tania Babic. The Next Gen exhibition showcases the work of students from government, Catholic and Independent schools from Ballarat and its broader region who have just completed VCE studies in Art Making & Exhibiting, Design and Technology, Visual Communication and Design and Media. The Art Gallery of Ballarat has been exhibiting some of the best work produced by students from across western Victoria for over 20 years. It is a great accomplishment to be selected to feature in the exhibition. Tania demonstrated excellent work ethic throughout 2023 and it was great to see her feeling so proud at the event. Tegan Crosbie (pictured) supported Tania throughout units 3 and 4 Art making and exhibiting, working hard to ensure that she fulfilled her potential in the subject. You are all encouraged to visit the exhibition to help celebrate the wonderful work of young artists from our region and to vote for Tania’s work in the people choice award!

11 Artmaking & exhibiting – Playing with Light

Students have been learning about the artistic practices of surrealist, photographer Man Ray. This has involved producing photographic collages and more recently photograms inspired by his work. In these pictures, they are using a sun sensitive paper that is coated with light-sensitive chemicals, which react to light waves and particles when exposed to light. By placing objects on the paper they block the light in certain sections, creating an image. These experimentations will be documented and annotated in their visual diary. As well as used within future artworks.
