From David

Dear parents and carers,

Each year the Department of Education surveys a randomly selected group of parents about their perceptions and experiences at their child/children’s school. This parent opinion survey provides valuable feedback for schools in regard to areas for improvement. One of the identified areas of concern in the surveys over a number of years was around communication.

We have been evaluating our communication processes and platforms in order to develop consistency in how and when information is shared. Last year we introduced fortnightly Dhumbadjirri newsletters instead of the previous monthly newsletters. Similarly, we rationalised the way that Compass was being used to communicate. Rather than overwhelm with a stream of information, it is now used to communicate critical information as well as important reminders.    The start of year parent/carer-teacher meetings being held next week are another way we hope to open strong communication and improve the community connection to school.

A new website has been developed which aims to provide up to date and relevant information on learning programs and school events. The purpose of the website is to profile the school to current families as well as the broader community. The website should be live from Monday next week.
