Class 2/3 Steiner:

Celebrating Learning

Welcome back!

This past fortnight we have been joyfully settling into 2/3S, new friendships and our huge double classroom space. Firstly, I’d love to say a huge thank you to all who helped to set up the classroom! It looks so beautiful, and the students are in love with the space.

In our Main lesson we’ve been focusing on Aesop’s Fables. We’ve read The Crow and the Pitcher, The Tortoise and the Hare, and The Fox and the Grapes so far. There have been lots of wonderful discussions around the moral of these stories and how we may apply them in our own lives.

We had some incredible self-directed learning while reading The Crow and the Pitcher, as the students wanted to test whether pebbles could actually be used to raise the water level in a pitcher.

This impromptu experiment involved lots of “Ohhhh I get it now!’ and laughter.

In Maths we’ve been refreshing our understanding of place value and have begun to explore into the thousands. Students have been representing 3- and 4-digit numbers in standard forms, written forms, expanded forms and model forms.

Specialist days: Monday - LOTE, Tuesday - CRAFT (Antoinette would like helpers. 11.45-12.45) & Library, Wednesday - Music, Thursday - Mindful Movement & PE.

A reminder about hats, please ensure your child has a sun smart hat for school. These are required during terms 1 and 4.

Next Tuesday (13th of Feb) there will be parent teacher meetings from 1.30 onwards. You can allocate a time on Compass. These meetings are only 10 minutes long, however if you’d like to discuss anything further, we can arrange a time together.

Lastly, my foot is getting better (yay!) so I’m looking forward to touching base with you all during drop off and pick up times outside again.
