Visual Arts

Welcome to Visual Arts Term 2!
Welcome to Term 2! We’re thrilled to continue our creative journey in Visual Arts, where students will expand their skills, knowledge, and understanding through engaging, hands-on experiences. This term, students across all year levels will explore a variety of artists, techniques, and creative processes, while building confidence, curiosity, and imagination through art-making, viewing, discussion, and reflection. In addition to their regular learning aligned with the Victorian Curriculum 2.0, students will begin creating special pieces for our Art Show, an exciting opportunity to showcase their creativity!
Prep
Our youngest artists will explore different artworks to inspire their own creations. They’ll learn what artists do, how they work, and how art can express messages and meaning. Through play and experimentation with different materials, students will begin developing their ideas and observational skills.
Grade 1/2
Students will deepen their understanding of how artists think and create. They'll explore how messages are conveyed through art and begin developing a vision for their own pieces. With a focus on observation and idea generation, they’ll learn how to take creative steps from concept to final artwork.
Grade 3/4
Students will study the work of a range of artists and start to experiment with ideas, techniques, and materials in their own art-making. They’ll be encouraged to take creative risks, think innovativtely, and draw inspiration from both the world around them and the artists they study.
Grade 5/6
Our senior students will take a more reflective approach to their artistic practice. They’ll explore the broader role of artists in society and apply this understanding to their own work. Through sustained practice, observation, and refinement, they’ll develop symbolic and critical thinking skills to bring depth and meaning to their artworks.
It’s shaping up to be a vibrant and inspiring term of creativity and learning, we can’t wait to see what our talented artists produce.
