Year 7 Camp at The Summit: An Unforgettable Adventure
In Week 10 of Term 1, our Year 7 students headed to The Summit camp in Trafalgar East for a truly memorable experience. The camp was filled with thrilling challenges, laughter, and new friendships, leaving lasting memories for everyone involved.
Exciting Activities
The Summit offered endless thrills, including Laser Skirmish, Giant Swing, Leap of Faith, Nail Walk, Inflatable Obstacle Course, Snowy River Challenge, Human Foosball, Rock Wall, and the Summit Window. One of the highlights was the muddy Monster Course, where students crawled, climbed, and powered through obstacles in the mud—fully embracing the fun and mess of outdoor adventure!
I still remember standing at the top of the Leap of Faith, heart racing, questioning all my life choices—then, somehow, I jumped. The rush of adrenaline and the moment of triumph were beyond words!
Building Bonds
From solving puzzles during team-building games to cheering each other on in the mud, the camp fostered a strong sense of friendship and teamwork among our students.
One of the funniest moments happened during the Monster Course. My group was determined to stay as clean as possible, dodging puddles and maneuvering carefully… until one spectacular slip sent us all tumbling into the mud. By the end, we were unrecognizable—and laughing so hard we could barely breathe!
Personal Growth
In addition to physical challenges, The Summit provided opportunities for reflection and growth through workshops on resilience, leadership, and embracing challenges.
At first, I wasn’t sure about pushing my limits, but the encouragement from my friends and the instructors gave me the confidence to take on every challenge. Each obstacle became not just something to overcome but a moment to prove to myself that I was capable of more than I realized.
Moments of Reflection and Growth
One of the most powerful aspects of the camp was the Morning Intentions sessions, where students set goals for the day, focusing on resilience and personal growth. The GMIC – Great Moments in Camp allowed us to acknowledge and appreciate our peers’ efforts, reinforcing a strong sense of community.
The Target, Stretch, Super Stretch activity was a unique goal-setting challenge that encouraged us to think beyond what we thought we could achieve. Looking back, I realize how much these moments helped shape our confidence and mindset.
Unforgettable Challenges
Some activities truly tested our bravery, like the Leap of Faith and the Giant Swing Experience—each one pushing us beyond our comfort zones while creating epic memories. The Rock Wall wasn’t just about climbing; it was a mental challenge to keep going even when doubt crept in. Then there was Human Foosball, which transformed a classic game into a hilarious, high-energy competition that kept everyone engaged and laughing.
A Community Built on Encouragement
One of the most heartwarming aspects of the camp was the support from fellow students. Whether it was cheering for someone hesitating at the edge of the Leap of Faith or rallying together to complete the Monster Course, the sense of camaraderie was truly inspiring.
Every challenge was a lesson in determination, and every moment spent with friends made the experience even more memorable.
Student Reflections
Here’s what some of our campers had to say:
● "The Leap of Faith was scary but awesome—I feel so proud I did it!"
● "The Monster Course was messy, muddy, and the best challenge ever—it was a blast!"
● "I never thought I’d make it through the Giant Swing, but now I just want to go again!"
