Principal's Report

Beginning Of Term 2:
Principal's Report
Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians
We trust that this edition of our Newsletter finds you well as students who settled into Term 2 with great enthusiasm.
Our Year 8’s kicked off the term with a great three-day program organised by Ms Heppel and her team that was filled with a variety of exciting on-site and off-site activities. Mr Aylen and Ms Jenkins coordinated our House Cross Country Carnival as well as a number of interschool sport competitions. Mr Morlin continues to lead our Interschool Debating Team to well-earned victories and students across a number of different year levels extended their learning experiences through many excursions.
Students will continue to be presented with a variety of opportunities throughout the school year, and we encourage everyone to step outside their comfort zones, try something new, and continue to strive for their personal best.
Walkathon
A huge thank you to our community who have, at this point, generously donated over $21,000 to our Walkathon in support of Monash Children’s Hospital School. Monies raised will continue to be used to support student learning through the purchase of additional educational resources (eg STEM equipment, learning aids etc), while patients are admitted into hospital.
Japan Tour
During Term 1 school holidays, I was privileged to take a group of 24 students from Years 9-12 on an international cultural immersion trip to Japan visiting Tokyo, Hiroshima, Kyoto, Nara and Osaka.
While diving deep into the history of Japan and Japanese traditions, the trip encompassed many highlights including visiting a number of temples and shrines, Hiroshima Castle & the Nuclear Bomb Dome and Peace Museum, UNESCO World Heritage sites, a walk along the famous Shibuya Scramble Crossing and the statue of the dog, Hachiko. We even took part in a Ninja Training Workshop and spent a day at Disneyland!
A special thank you to all students who made it a fantastic experience as well as Mr Katsianos, Mr Picone, Mr Knox and Mr Hall for accompanying me and who without their supervision wouldn’t have made this trip possible.
Reflection
While Term 2 term promises to be filled with opportunities for learning, growth, and connection, from academic challenges to sporting competitions, performances, excursions, and co-curricular activities it is also a time to reflect on the goals set earlier in the year.
Whether it’s improving study habits, getting more involved in school life, or building stronger relationships, now is a great time to reset and refocus. Teachers are here to support every student on their journey, and we encourage open communication and a growth mindset in everything we do.
Let’s make Term 2 a time of progress, positivity, and pride in our school community. We’re glad to have you back—and we can’t wait to see what we’ll achieve together.
