A wonderful time of sightseeing, activities, bonding, and reflection was had at our recent combined campus Year 6 Camp.

Please see the following review from two of our Year 6 students.

Day 1, the highlight of the first part was the Richmond Lolly shop.  We couldn’t get too many lollies because Mr Mac said, “You are going to have a sugar high.”

We also did a historical walk focusing on architecture and a river walk while looking at the oldest bridge in Australia.

Every night and morning we had devotion, so on Monday night Mrs Beer did a devotion on “Are you carrying heavy burdens & baggage?” In her devotion, she shared 2 Bible verses from Matthew 11:28-30 and Luke 23:36-43.  She talked about how each person is always going to have a terrible thing to say, but don’t let that bring you down because in your life there’s always going to be those people. What she said really hit hard to the students and teachers.

That night we also played SPOTLIGHT!  We called it “Teachers with tourches”.  Round 1, Mr Webb got most of the people and Round 2, every teacher got roughly the same number of kids. Once we finished spotlight, we played in the games room; they had SO many games.

Most people’s highlight from Day 2 was rock climbing at camp; they had their own rock wall.  While Group B was at the rockwall, Group A was at the initiative course, then we swapped.

Another highlight on Day 2 was Parliament House.  Group A met The Hon. Jeremy Rockliff, The Hon. Roger Jaensch, The Hon. Felix Ellis, Mrs Anita Dow MP, Ms Meg Brown MP and Mrs Miriam Beswick MP.

On Tuesday morning, Mr Webb did the devotion,  The topic he focused on was “you are free to praise the Lord.” He did four bible verses they were Psalm 118:24, John 10:10, Jeremiah 29:11 and Matthew 4:18-22. He talked about living in the moment.  Mrs Woolley said something that will stay with us forever she said, “What other people think is not your business.”

Every time we had a devotion, we did some praise and worship songs before and after.  It was always a good time everyone was jumping, singing and dancing; that was one of our favorite parts of camp.

On Day 3 was packing up and saying goodbye to Blue Lagoon and the wonderful staff.  We went on a walk on the beach. It was a bit breezy and windy.

Wednesday morning was our last devotion of camp and Ms Grey did our devotion. Her bible verse was Matthew 18:22 and she talked about forgiveness of family and to stand strong in your beliefs.

On our way home we stopped at Campbell town for lunch. The Blue Lagoon staff made meat and salad bread rolls for us. We arrived back in Ulverstone and both campuses got back safely.  At the end, everyone was tired but had a wonderful time. It was great to be able to hang out with Burnie campus  and meet some new people. It was a trip to remember and thank you to everyone who helped, but DEFINIETLY a BIG thank you to Mr Mac and Blue Lagoon.
