Message From the Principal

Natalie Vulic

National Reconciliation Week

This week we have celebrated National Reconciliation Week. The dates are the same for each year, from 27 May to 3 June. These dates commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey – the successful 1967 referendum, and the High Court Mabo decision respectively.

Committing to reconciliation creates a nation strengthened by respectful relationships between the wider Australian community, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

We all have a role to play when it comes to reconciliation, and in playing our part we collectively build relationships and communities that value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories, cultures, and futures.

In classrooms this week, students have unpacked some learning from indigenous authors and learnt more about the importance of National Reconciliation Week.  At assembly, Year 5/6C students delivered an energetic rendition of the song ‘Solid Rock’ which is the 2025 theme song.

Attitudes to School Survey - Year 4,5,6 students

Over the last two weeks, our Year 4, 5, and 6 students have participated in the Attitudes to School Survey. As a school, we use the data from this survey to track how students feel in relation to their school, their learning, peer relationships, resilience, bullying, health and wellbeing, physical activity, and life in general.

Thank You - Bunnings Sausage Sizzle Fundraiser

Thank you to the family members and staff members who volunteered their time at the Bunnings Sausage Sizzle fundraiser on Sunday 25th May. We made a profit of $1675, which will add to our 2025 fundraising total. This year’s efforts will go towards creating more outdoor spaces for our students to enjoy.

Thank you - Parent Payments -                  Curriculum Contributions

Thank you to the families who have been able to pay their Voluntary Parent Payments already. This has allowed us to provide necessary materials, resources and subscriptions for our students. Whilst the payments are voluntary, the payments make a big difference to the functioning of our school. If you are able to make payment, please do so via Compass, or contact the office. Payment plans are also available. If you would like further details of the parent payments and the policy, please visit our website link: DPS Parent Payment page

Thank you - Professional Practice Day     Assessment Appointments

Thank you to the families who brought their children in for the individual assessment appointments on Monday 26th May. Classroom teachers are gathering student data in order to assign reporting grades and write progress comments over the next few weeks. I am pleased to see lots of student growth over the semester, and am particularly proud of how Dinjerra students are trying their personal best in their learning.

On the PP Day, our Education Support team participated in professional learning from the Department of Education and Training Lookout team, which focused on building knowledge in Trauma Informed Tier 1 Practice.

Student Free Day - Report Writing Day             Friday 6th June

Our third student free curriculum day is scheduled for Friday 6th June. The focus for the day is report writing for Semester 1 Reports. These reports will be published to families in Week 11.

SWPBS - Lunch with the Principal!

I feel so lucky that some students are deciding to spend their Dojo Rewards points to ‘have lunch with the Principal'! I have enjoyed lunch so far this year with Sonny and Violet from Year Prep and have a list made up of Kaiya, Kate, Ellie-May and Mohamed to catch up with next. I have enjoyed the catch ups immensely!
