What’s happening in Technology at Heathmont?

We have had a very smooth and enjoyable Term 1 in Technology.  Our students have been working with their teachers and peers to create safe, collaborative and productive learning spaces.  It has been great to see students focused on tasks, designing projects, receiving feedback and advice and having fun!!

VCE Food Studies

Students completed their first School Assessed Coursework tasks for Units 1 and Units 3.Year 11 students recorded their finding on several key food commodities and undertook research on either the Mediterranean or the Americas.  They then used this to respond to application questions.  Year 12 students used their knowledge gained in the first area of study to create their own breakfast recipe for a specific client and then responded to a series of questions related to digestion, nutrition and specific dietary requirements.

Year 9 Production Technology

Students have been investigating various types of wood in class and then using their results to create chopping boards.  As you can see, they have developed incredible practical skills in the workshop.  It has been great to see them all focussed and also helping each other.
