Writing

In Writing, we have been preparing for our next Big Write, which is going to be a narrative about a magic potion, written in the fantasy/fairy tale genre. In a brilliant stroke of lucky timing, a wizard specialising in alchemy has temporarily moved into the Red Centre. Students have been able to smell, touch, see, hear, and even taste the setting of the Wizard's Tower. Students also used AI to generate some images of their own personal settings using the vocabulary they collected during the wizard's visit. I'm really looking forward to reading these Big Writes next week!

Education in Faith

In Faith this term, we have been exploring our responsibilities as the stewards of God's creations. We've investigated the ideas of Laudato Si, the Catholic Social Teaching of caring for our common Earth, and St. Francis of Assisi's Canticle of Creation. Students used these learnings to create their own comics entitled 'Cry of the Earth'. Ms. Marion was so impressed that some now hang in the foyer of the office! These wonderful works will be available to view at our end of term showcase.

Busy, Busy, Busy!

We have so much coming up in the next couple of weeks to be aware of, and we thank you in advance for responding to Operoo notices as soon as you can.

Next week, the Grade 5/6 students will be attending Mass on Tuesday morning. Thank you to William, Nixon, Thomas, and Summer, who will be doing some of the readings for the parish community.

Next Thursday, the 29th of May, we will be attending an excursion to John Paul College to watch their 2025 musical production of The Little Mermaid. We are very lucky to have been invited, and they are even providing the bus transport for us! There is a form on Operoo to be signed for this event.

Also next week, on Friday the 30th of May, we will be attending Frankston East PS for our next round of Interschool Sports. I was hugely impressed by the good sportsman and excellent manners shown at our last game, and look forward to another good week of sport. As we will be travelling to Frankston East by bus, there is an Operoo notice to be signed for this event as well.

Last, but certainly not least, our zoo excursion is coming up in Week 7 (Thursday the 5th of June). All of the details are on Operoo, and thank you to those families who have already responded. It's going to be a great day, supporting our Inquiry learning.
